Does anyone else get this? On a cold start when I change gears from park to rear the car jerks. I asked the Infiniti Dealership and they said its because it is a cold start but I don't think it should be doing that. Any information would be helpful.

When you first start your car you're on cold idle and your RPMs are around 1200, if you'll wait a few minutes it will drop to 650 then you shouldn't have the noise (clunk) you're describing. Be nice to your Infiniti, let her warm up before taking off down the street....

I do let it warm up. I let it warm up for 3 to 5 minutes and the RPM drops. It still jerks.

I'm facing the same issue and my brother tells me that I should change my tranny fluid. how many miles are on your g?
I am pretty sure it isnt the tranny fluid. At about 28,000 miles my transmission died but Infiniti covered it under warranty. Right now I drove about 10,000 miles with my new transmission so I am pretty sure that the tranny fluid isnt the problem. Even with my old transmission the jerking still happened.

I had issues with getting my MT6 into 2nd or reverse from a cold start on days where the temperature was near freezing. I went to my dealership where there was a technical note to change out the factory "gear oil" to an alternate, possibly less viscous for cold weather. After replacing the fluid, no issues whatsoever - not sure if this could be related. BTW, I have a 2004 that had 60,000kms (37500 mi) when it was changed.

When you go into reverse, is your car on a hill? I noticed on decently steep hills, if I put my car into reverse, even if idle is at 650, it has a very intense and pronounced jerk/clunk that frightened me at first because it felt like my tranny was gonna drop or something, but I believe it's nothing to worry about, but that's just my opinion.

i have also experienced this clunk/jerk at times. doenst sound good when it happens but its kinda random when it does. It hasnt really happened when its cold. I havent noticed being on a incline. i usually let my car warm up and drop rpms when starting. and i believe it has happened when going from neutral to 1st gear. i have an 04 g35 coupe mt with 69k and had tranny fluid replaced about year ago.............but this would be one of the many problems w my g
