Trans Leak 04 6MT?

Just bought my G yesterday and this morning when I pulled out I saw a few puddles of red fluid right next to where my front drivers side tire is.

What should I be looking for in that area? Is there a trans dipstick on the 04 6MT that I can check? Where can I add fluid if low?

Thanks

Could be power steering fluid.

The front tire would be a strange place for a transmission leak, but:
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tranny and a fill plug on the side (same is true of the diff, which also may have red fluid). You fill the tranny until fluid starts coming out the fill plug. You can check the level by opening the fill plug and feeling the level with your finger.

OK, pretty sure it is power steering fluid. One of the bolts was loose and that is where it appeared to be dripping from...

The bolt is the one that connects to the trans side (on the drivers side) to the end of the cv joint looking piece...lolol....if that makes sense...anyways that bolt was 2 full turns loose. it's tight now...

post pics soon too..

Glad you found it. Sounds like the bolt is near where the steering column attaches to the steering rack. Check your PSF level.

BAD BAD NEWS! The bolt I tightened controls how stiff my steering is...i took the car to my friends shop and he loosened the bolt back up so I could drive the car normally again...lololol...live and learn.

My rack and pinion is leaking from the rubber boot from the drivers side....do i need an entire new rack and pinion or can this boot be replaced???
