High Clutch Engagement...

Sorry to beat a dead horse gang...BUT I just bought my G a few days ago. It is a 6MT with 96K on the odo.

I am unsure if the clutch has ever been changed. I printed the service history from the local infiniti dealer but there was nothing about clutch issues anywhere in the history.

My clutch engagement is VERY high...it engages the last 2 inches of the pedal. When the clutch engages it's perfect and does not slip at all anywhere...even at WOT.

I topped off the fluid and it seemed to help a little...could there be air in the fluid? How would I flush it?

any thoughts?

Sounds to me like you just need to adjust your clutch. I had the same issue when I bought my car, but it's very much improved after following this thread:

Hope that helps. Let us know if you have any more problems with it.

Yes! It is much better now...I did about 3 turns, should I go more? It's pretty close but still a little high?

How many can I go safely?

Is there a way to tell if my clutch is new or just getting worn down? Any tests I can do?

thanks

I think I went about three to four turns. You just want to make sure your clutch is still fully engaging/disengaging, so don't do too much.

If you clutch is still grabbing well and not slipping, it's not worn too bad.

I just purchased a 2004 with 95k miles and had the same problem. The car was new to me so i wasn't sure if this was normal or not...eventually the clutch slave cylinder and hydraulic line broke, (clutch pedal was stuck to the floor), and were replaced for about $300. This totally changed the engagement point so that the engagement happens immediately like it should.
