okay so here's the deal, tax money came in, had my truck's front end rebuilt, full drivetrain blah blah blah doesn't matter.. anyways took the rest of the money and here was the plan for my G:
transmission flush (done)
fuel system flush (done)
belts changed (done)
plenum spacer/intake (ordered)
new rubber (ordered)
and lastly wanted to get my wheels polished/painted (curbage from previous owner, got a sweet deal on them cause of it)

now when i went and had my tires being put on i noticed lots of xmission chatter.. pretty sure my throwout bearing is going out, mechanic agreed.. no slippage from the clutch or anything else.. i'd like to keep the extra money for the wheels but i don't want my transmission dying.. so the question is.. can i just relace the throwout bearing with the intentions of saving up and doing the clutch later this year? or is it absolutely necessary to do the clutch at the same time (even if there have been no issues with it)???thanks in advance..

 

How many miles on the car? Is it the original clutch that came with the car?

When you have the trans open to replace the throwout bearing just check the clutch. If its in good condition then don't change it but if there is any sign of clutch wear (most likely there will be) definitely change the clutch out. Why end up paying for the labor twice.
Sometimes throwout bearing noise is a sign that the clutch is gonna go, even if it isn't slipping yet.
