Just flushed tranny and now slipping
I just changed my transmission fluid over the weekend and it is an auto. The problem I am having is accurately reading the dip stick. Yesterday when I checked the level with the engine at running temp it was right at the top of the hash marks. Today at running temp it shows me being over about 1/4 inch. I haven't had any problems except this morning when everything was cold (60 in Louisiana) the tranny slipped twice. Would the tranny slip because of too much fluid. I can't imagine it being more than 3/4 quart over. I don't understand why it would only slip when it was cold and not hot?
Your AT fluid expands as it warms up. When cold, you may have too little fluid for proper engagement. Grab a copy of the FSM and follow the procedure for checking fluid level. Note, it'll take at least 5-10 mins to get the fluid into the LOW operating range and another 10 or so to get to the HIGH operating range. You should cycle through the gears while stationary before taking the readings and remember to turn the dipstick around 180 degrees.
How many miles on your car? Previous service on the trans? What kind of trans flush are we talking about?
I would let that extra fluid out. It shouldn't be a problem but there's an operating range for a reason. If you fluid is getting foamy maybe it's messing with line pressure.

There is a Hot and a Cold measurement on the dipstick.
Dealer overfilled mine a bit and its been fine.
I drive 30 highway miles and checked it, Its been the same every since just need to warm up your fluid properly.

It has 135000 miles and I had my last change at about 70-80k by the dealership. I did it myself this time because nobody wanted to replace all fluids. I did it myself so it wasnt a true flush. I drained and refilled three time totaling 10 qts. It only slipped two times the day after I did it first thing in the morning. The engine was cold and it happened in the first five minutes and havent had a problem since and I had to drive about 150 miles yesterday. I have a feeling the last time I checked it it was hotter than it was suppost to be and therefore higher than normal. I dont have any foam or air bubbles. I have not drove my car today so I am going to check the level cold, then let it idle for 5-10 min. and check. Then check after another 10 min. What is the reason for turning the dip stick, I didnt understand that part?
Ok I just checked it again the car has not ran today so it is completely cold. It was at the top notch of the cold section so I think I'm ok. I am still going to check it when up to temp
What type of fluid did you use when you flushed it. Nissan trans fluid is the only fluid recommended for these transmissions.

Does anyone think that because I went so long with out changing the tranny and then putting ten quarts of new fluid in, that could be the reason it has been slipping? It happened again once this morning less than five minutes after staring. The old fluid was dark. It was close to black with a slight red tint?
^ If you changed your trans oil every 30k miles it shouldn't be bad but if you bought the car brand new and drove it till 70 or 100k miles, i would of never change it, it can cause more damage to it then replacing the oil.
Nope I traded it in for a QX56. I made two mistakes. I didn't change it as often as I should have and I didn't measure the amount of fluid I took out to replace exactly.
