Hey guys, I am not very knowledgeable with cars. But, today when i was on my way home from work, i was driving down a road doing about 30, went to shift up, and it sounded like something metal broke and fell off.

After this i can move my shifter around freely, in a 360 motion. It does not grab any gears and because of this, can not be driven(obviously).

So i parked it on the side of the road and will be calling a towing company first thing tomorrow morning.

Did my transmission somehow break?

Or is it possible that just the shifter broke somehow?

I hypothesize that your shifter link just broke... be prepared to have an arm and leg donated....

 

there is a bolt that connects the shifter to the tranny. super easy to replace if that it.

Easy for you to check. just remove the shift ****, the plastic finisher, the 4 bolts holding down the rubber boot, and you will see the bolt.
