tick tick ping sound. Is it the differential or rear bushings

Hi.

My 2005 g35 sedan 6mt rwd makes a high pitched / metallic tick tick tick / ping sound whenever I pull away or back up. Happens even if I do this very slowly. The sound comes from the rear axle -- both right and left side. I thought it might be bushings but the mechanic I'm about to bring the car to said it is a well known sound from this vintage of G35 and that the differential is making the sound -- and that nothing's wrong. Completely repeatable. Happens every time.

Really ?

what do you folks say ? Does your 6mt rwd G35 make this sound too ?

Thiers a TSB which addresses lubricating the axle shaft splines. This is a real problem with vehicles in snow belt regions that use salt for treating roadways.
