5AT Mods for Road Racing

Alright ive tried searching around here and havent really found what im looking for. Right now i have an 05 G35 coupe with the 5AT and full bolt ons. As of recently the tranny has started to slip from 1st to 2nd. Now i just did a flush a little more than 3000miles ago changed my oil just the other day and checked the fluid and its already a light brown which is indicating its burning. Now i dont drive my car easy and i have future plans to road race it but i need to figure out a way to keep this sucker cool any recomendations? I already have a tranny build and transgo VB on the build list, but if shes already getting too hot on the street i cant imagine road racing the car.

Try auxiliary Trans cooler with electric fan. VB upgrade now would also help. Heat is obviously being generated from friction of clutch disc slippage. VB would engage clutch disc quicker and firmer to minimize slippage.

I recently rebuilt my 5AT trans using ALTO Red Eagle Kit which adds additional clutch plates.

Thanks for the quick reply man! I was also looking at ALTO's stuff which distributer did you buy the parts from? Also did it come with everything you need? In your opinion would the Red Eagle Kit be able to hold up to the stress of racing and Forced Induction? After i build the tranny i was going to do a full build on the block then boost it with a JWT kit.

ALTO Red Eagle Kit (Full Rebuild Kit) was purchased from Texas National Transmissions Parts for $725.00 Shipped. It took 9 months to find the kit. ALTO apparently only makes the kit in batches every once in awhile.

You will have lots of left over parts, the kit is designed primarily for a Titan Truck. Another option is to just purchase the Direct Drum and Input Drum Kits which add 2 extra sets of clutches.

I ended not using any of the reverse friction discs and half of the kolene steel plates. Every set of clutches ended up with 1 extra disc/friction plate.

It should hold up to to FI, I plan on pushing 500+ RWHP

If you decide on the ALTO kit its recommended to sand the black coating off the Kolene Steel Plates. Thiers rumor the Kolene steel plates will no longer have a black layer on them.

Sweet, $725 is not bad for all the parts il need to do a full rebuild. Im going to have to look around for that kit then and see if i can pick one up. My intentions on the build is to support 600rwhp but only push 500 that way il keep things safe. How does the transmission feel now that youve done the rebuild? Also how difficult was it to swap everything? Did you also swap the torque converter?
