Driving my car today, I got on it in 1st gear and when i shifted through the gears and finally let off o noticed that all of my gears seem to be farther to the right then they use to be. its like 1st gear is in the middle where 3rd use to be and reverse is almost impossible to get into because my shifter is against the edge of the silver plastic guard thing. And now also my exhaust sounds funny. Any ideas of what i messed up? Oh, its a 03 g35 coupe.

you bottomed out and your exhaust got bent an pushed against your shift linkage and bent your shift linkage......just a though.
get under there and look around to see if anything looks unnormal

 

i have a b&m short shifter if that makes any difference, if i bent the shift linkage can i just change the shifter or is that something connected to the trans?

 

The exact same thing happend to me when one of my motor mounts failed and I replaced them with z1motorsports motor mounts and my shifter is back in place but take a look under the hood to see of you engine is slightly slanted
