Odd Winding Noise - MMMMMMMmmmmmm

I've been experiencing an odd winding noise, especially during deceleration. When in neutral, there is no noise, which leads me to believe it's between the tranny and wheels. Don't think its a whell bearing no grinding and I've experienced that before. This is a winding type of noise and am thinking it's the cv axle or possibly in the front transfer case. I have a AWD X Sedan. I've read people describe a clicking noise, but can't say that is the noise. Best described as - MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm. Anybody can confirm the cv axle or possibly point to something else?

after some more reading it looks like it may actually be the wheel bearing. I'm used to associating that problem with more of a grinding or frictional noise. I guess the next question would be Genuine Infiniti part or Moog. Not sure about OEM, but the moog has a 3 year warranty. It would be cheaper to get the individual bearing, but much easier on me to use the Hub/Bearing Assembly.
Funny how so many people viewed this thread, but made no comment.

If it's like an amplified version of regular road noise, I would say it's the wheel bearings. Mine did not click, they just roared a little louder like a severely flatspotted tire. I replaced mine with Timkens and they've been great over the past 3 years. However, I'm a 6MT so there will be some differences against the X.

Can you isolate where the sound is coming from?

Yes that sounds like it, just that it winds up and more so down. I ordered the Moog assembly for ease of install and unfortunately the AWD version is a bit expensive @ $190. Timken with 1 yr. warranty was $170. No brained for me. 2wd version was almost $100 less.

Haha very funny! I did replace wheel bearing and hub. While it did eliminate most of the issue I was having, there is still some underlying vibration in the peddle and wind-down during deceleration.

Depending on what tires you have on that could be it..
