Transmission slow to engage between reverse and forward
Transmission slow to engage between reverse and forward
Hi all
I'm wondering if I should be concerned about an issue that has happened for a long time occasionally but is starting to happen more frequently and a little more seriously. Basically when I back out of the garage or a parking space the car and switch from reverse to forward the gear will not engage immediately. The engine revs a bit but I can feel it hasn't engaged so I let off the gas until it does. The longest this takes is usually 1-2 seconds but that is a pretty long time waiting for the gears to shift.
Part of the issue may be that I haven't come to a complete stop before shifting out of reverse (but close).
Is this a potential transmission issue or just user error? Be nice now.

When was the last time you checked your AT fluid or had it replaced? ATs work on line pressure with less/old fluid it will effect how your trans shifts. I'd take your G to Nissan and have them check your fluil level/condition, they won't charge you for just looking.

Well, that should have been within the last 20k miles and it has been doing it longer than that. Just it recently got a little worse.
I can ask the dealer to check real quick. It is there today.
