?Clutch problems & ordering parts from Japan
?Clutch problems & ordering parts from Japan
Hi
I have a 2006 Nissan 350GT 6sp manual, ~40,000km, from japan
I have been having problems where if I put my foot down on the accelerator the revs go up really quickly but I don't get any extra speed. If I put my foot down super gently then it is ok.
Example
Driving car in 2nd gear at 20m/hr. Put foot on gas, revs jump up, car doesn't accelerate, then the revs jump back down again and car slowly accelerates.
Also I feel like it has trouble going up hill.
I have no problems changing gear. I have no rattling noises. The problem is noticeable in all gears except for 1st gear.
I'm pretty sure I need a new clutch. I was told a that to test if my clutch is dying I should drive at around 60m/hr then change down to 2nd and disengage clutch without rev matches, if the clutch is good the car should suddenly deccelerate with quite a jerk. This doesn't happen.
Am I doing any harm in driving my car while I wait for a new clutch? (I am driving like a grandma currently). Is there a way to tell if I will also need to order a new flywheel? The local nissan store tells me they dont stock the clutch for my car and have to order from japan (which is suprising, because I'm sure it is the exact same clutch as the 350Z, which is a common car in New Zealand.)
I'm thinking about ordering the clutch replacement myself from japan because it is way cheaper. I am having troulble finding the stock clutch kit in japan. I can only find the nismo single clutch kit, and nismo coppermix kit, but not the nissan oem kit. Does anyone know the part number for the oem clutch? Another cheap option would be exedy nsk1000 from amazon.
