05 Clutch pedal stiff: dealer says new clutch kit?
Hey guys, I had a 60k mile service done at the dealership and they said I need a new clutch kit because my clutch pedal is very stiff. I noticed that after using the clutch a bit maybe in stop and go traffic or city driving that it starts to stiffen up, but honestly this is my first stickshift car so I didn't know there was anything wrong with that. Infiniti wants to gouge me 2600 for a new clutch/flywheel but when I bought the car at 54k miles the place I bought it from had JUST replaced it because it had begun slipping. I did some of my own research and I thought maybe they replaced it with a cheap clutch, and a single-mass flywheel? (Because there seems to be a little bit of chatter/metal noise) but either way isn't a stiff clutch pedal just a throwout bearing that needs to be replaced? Seems odd to have to replace a WHOLE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY after only 7k miles (I'm at 61k now). Any and all help appreciated.
Sidenote: They also said I need to replace my rear crossmember but I've never been in an accident and there was nothing wrong when they inspected the car at 54k when I bought it so I'm a little confused. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

This is a perfect example of why most of us stay clear of the Stealership, they're not to be trusted! I suggest you get a second or even third opinion from a trans shop and independent Nissan shop/mechanic. Stiff clutch pedal could be number of issues, none of them related to the clutch itself!

I try to avoid going to the stealership - but my mother also has an infiniti (fx35) and because she's upper class she just does everything at the dealership and she trusts them so much she decided that for services like that, I can call shops and get quotes, and then she will pay the difference. For example she paid an extra $240 for my 60k service lol.
Anyways, good to hear. I was going to take it by a shop at some point, really hoping it's something small.
