I've never actually heard chatter in real life. Is it just something you hear or do you feel it too?

My clutch judders sometime, it sort of feels like the description that google gives me:

'
Clutch Judder is caused by the incorrect alignment of the clutch components, the flywheel and the input drive of the gearbox. These components need to meet concentrically or they will cause vibrations through the vehicle.'

Judder is totally different than "chatter". I don't hear it in the car, only while standing next to it. It sounds like open straight cut gears running.

Some cases are worse than others:

Damn that second one is really bad. So do people only get single mass because it's cheaper? Or are there other benefits too?

No, because they are lighter. Give a quicker rev as there is a LOT less rotational mass.

If I remember correctly, the factory flywheel is 37 pounds and the JWT flywheel is 17 pounds.

What about the Exedy "light" flywheel instead?

https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...bo-p-2405.html

"Exedy Lightweight - This Solid 4140 Forged Steel flywheel weighs 19.05 lbs. This flywheel is lighter than stock but still heavy enough to help reduce excess transmission noise (chatter)."

They also have a 21 pound clutch:

"Z1 Performance Mid Weight - This Solid 4140 Forged Steel flywheel weighs 21 lbs. The mid weight helps maintain engine RPM between shifts."

Maybe that would be better than a super lightweight one? I saw people posting about regretting getting the JWT lightweight with no mods.

Also, I think the stock clutch is one is 27.6 pounds.

I can only speak to my experience with the JWT clutch pack.

I think I'm just going to go with the OEM. If I do any mods to my car, it won't be for years because I'll be in college and broke for at least 2.5 years to finish my degree.

I pieced together my own "kit" with an Exedy NSK1000 (considered OEM equivalent) and a lightweight flywheel from CZP. Tossed in the CZP pivot ball and stainless line combo, and the total came in just under $500. I also went ahead and got Centric master and slave cylinders and was able to refresh the whole system for around $550 worth of parts.

Exedy NSK1000 - Rockauto $200-$230 (price seems to fluctuate)
CZP Lightweight Flywheel - CZP $250 (cheapest flywheel I've found)
CZP chromoly pivot ball & stainless steel clutch line combo - CZP $50

Centric Master Cylinder - Rockauto $25
Centric Slave Cylinder - Rockauto $20
Trans Fluid (Redline MT85, Nissan MTF) - varies (can replace clutch without draining trans, I had some spill out anyway, added 1/2 qt when job was done, had replaced fluid only a few months prior to clutch slipping so was still good. Get 4 qts if fluid hasn't been replaced in a while since it's probably due anyway)

It drives great, but honestly is fairly chattery. If I had to do it again, I'd skip the z1 poly transmission mount I got (it's pretty harsh) and spend the extra money on a Stage 1 kit with quiet disk option from zspeed: http://www.zspeedperformance.com/ZSp...PNSKPACKDE.htm With centric master and slaves, total parts would be still be less than $700.

Ha! I was Googling to find how bad the chatter is on the JWT setup and came across this gem earlier tonight, Texasscout: https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...ml#post4800337

That Z1 Motorsports package looks excellent. Slightly beefier pressure plate, light-ish single-mass flywheel, AND an OEM-style sprung friction disc for just under $600!? Holy smokes, I wish the Maxima's aftermarket support was as incredible as the G/Z's! The lightweight flywheel alone for the FWD VQ35DE was ~$800 in 2011, I can only guess at what it costs now.

Because I'm moving from CA to Philly, I hit up a Philly area mechanic recommended by g35driver and he recommended me a Southbend Stage 1 Clutch Kit. He says it doesn't really have an effect on the pedal feel (although mine is janky ANYWAYS so what would I know haha) and he was going to resurface the flywheel but I was told previously you can't resurface a dual mass flywheel? I seem to be getting varying opinions on it.
