We have an 05 G35 automatic, what would it take to drop in the Rear End from the Manual?

Is it possible, if so, what exactly do I need to purchase to make the swap?

I've done searches, and for some reason I have been unable to find anything regarding the swapping the rear end. I have found many posts on various forums regarding the differences, but nothing about whether the swap is possible, and what is needed.

I have seen pictures, and the housing (pumpkins) themselves look very similar, and I was thinking it might be as simple as buying the Manual Pumpkin from a 350z Manual and throwing it in, but I wanted to be sure.

Why would you do that? It's a final drive change, which will raise your highway Rome, and the way it accelerates. If you are looking for the VLSD most have irreplaceable fluid that runs out around 60k miles or so.

Buy a fast car if you want to go fast .

It's super easy to swap the pumpkins but not a DIY job in your driveway on ramps unless you enjoy working in tight spaces with a very heavy object. I did the swap and loved the results. Yes highway driving gets less MPG, I lost about 2, but everyday driving is so much more fun. Better grunt down low and driveability is more sporty. The G doesn't get driven much on the freeway any more so that's become a non-issue for us.

From a 3.3 to a 3.5. Was a direct bolt on.

 

I talked to my guys at the junk yard and apparently in 07 the coupes and sedans with LSD were both 3.5's (auto and man)but the sedans had a 3.6 option with the manual. Small step in the right direction to go with the 3.6, I guess, if they all bolt/ plug up the same.
