Is a TCM reprogram needed?

I have a 2005 coupe and i need a ATX transmission installed. Just wanted to know if i got another tranny will i need to reprogram the TCM (that come with the new tranny in order for it to work? If so is there anywhere i can take it other than the dealer to do so. I feel like if its out of the same year car it should work from another car of the same model year??

Some people yes, some people no, sorry I can't be more specific than that. Why not just keep your existing TCM so its not an issue?

Well the reason i am doing the trans in the first place is because i think i have an issue with the solenoids and since you cant buy just the solenoids you have to purchase the entire valve body and thats about 1100+ and you do you have to PROGRAM that and not only that the tranny has about 200,000 on it so i said what the heck just get a low mileage tranny and tcm since it is inside of the trans. I figure since it is from the same year and model that it shouldn't need to be reprogrammed.

I haven't had any problems swapping same generation TCMs before. I have a 06' FX35 TCM in my 05' G35x. The only time you should need programming is if you buy a factory "NEW" transmission because they come blank.
