Transmission Issues most notably reverse

2006 G 35 Coupe Automatic...60,000 miles.
Here are the symptoms:
Car sits overnight on a slight inclined driveway with front higher than the rear of the car.
Start the car, let it idle for about 15-20 seconds, Shift into reverse car moves with no issues.
Drive 3- 4 minutes and stop the car, shift into reverse, no reverse, car just sits there, rev engine slightly...nothing...increase RPM to about 3K and all of the sudden the car jerks backward, so violently that it chirps the wheels, can then drive in reverse. bring the car to a stop in reverse and then try again and its the same thing. Car drives perfectly fine in forward gears and shifts perfectly well throughout the gears. Checked the tranny fluid and it appears to be normal color, although I have no idea when it was last changed. Fluid color is a reddish brown, typically of what you see with transmission fluid. Checked transmission fluid level with car in park on flat surface and it appears to be at or slightly over the max mark with a hot transmission.

Any thought or ideas as to what might be causing the issue with reverse? Thinking of doing a transmission fluid change to see if that makes any difference, perhaps even dropping the pan and changing out the screen and additional fluid...would also like to inspect the pan magnets.

Feedback welcome and appreciated...thanks

Bad solenoid in the transmission valve body maybe. I’m assuming your transmission fluid level is fine?

Don't bother with the strainer screen, it's not a true filter and likely not the issue.

Since the engine WILL go into reverse when you give it more throttle it's not the solenoid, I'm thinking it's pressure related. Are you SURE you checked the fluid properly?

Get the tranny up to normal operating temp, park with the engine running, put the shifter through each gear, R, N, D, 2, 1, 2, D, N, R, and back in park. Let it sit in each gear for about 1 full second. This makes sure that the valve body passages are completely full of fluid.

Now remove the dipstick and check the fluid levels 8-10 times wiping the dipstick each time until you remove all the extra fluid from the pipe.

I'm betting you're actually low on fluid, when the fluid is cold it's thicker, thus builds more pressure so you can actually get better engagement on a cold transmission, once it heats up the fluid becomes less viscous, thus lower pressure, and if you are a little bit low on fluid THAT is when you will feel the difference.

Once you have verified 100% that the fluid is the correct level if it still has the reverse issue do a drain/fill but make sure to use the correct Nissan Matic J or S fluid (actual Nissan brand fluid not generic).

If it still has problems after a drain/fill then it's time to go in for a diagnostic before tearing the tranny apart, this will tell you exactly what the problem is since Consult-II/III can give a very exacting diagnostic for the transmission.
