transmission troubles. lost 5th and 6th gears.

for a year or so, i've been having grinding troubles. the grinding happens in both 3rd and 5th gear. i've hauled to many dealers to have the transmission replaced, however they all gave me the 'no'. so, my only option was a transmission flush after a clutch job. however, lo and behold... the grinding persisted. so i shifted slowly to reduce synchro wear and the grinding stopped. afterwards, i decided to follow my heart with an APS TT and a tilton clutch job. all was good until a few months later...

a few days ago, my 5th and 6th gear were gone. the transmission decided to grind again to the point i couldn't shift into gear! upon smoothly gating the shifter to 5th or 6th and engaging the clutch, the car acts as if the transmission is in neutral... so i am now out of luck. car is past miles within warranty and a factory defect argument will not be an option with the modifications on the car. time for a trans upgrade.

now, i can go with a cheaper route of installing a used transmission with low miles or go with the more expensive route with a brand new tranny. were there any upgrades within the transmission from 2003 and on? if so, what are the differences? any whole manual transmission upgrades from reputable tuners? any strong dogbox or sequential trans upgrades?!

i am growing desperate now... i am averaging 60 mph @ 3.5k rpm in 4th gear on a freeway run.

ive got an 04 6mt. its completely stock w/14k miles. I got my tranny replaced (due to a noisy/chattery first gear and a grinding 5th gear) no questions asked. I dont know about yours since your not stock any longer. good luck though.
