Perhaps the coils are not hooked up properly? Which plugs did you put in? are all the hoses plugged back in properly? Perhaps a hose cracked?

I get NGK iridium, to me they are the best. But thats my opinion.

great job with the DIY. I was going to have the dealer do it but seeing it broken down this is no problem.

 

I replaced my spark plugs with the Iridiums, following the instructions. Now my car is idling very rough and the check engine light has been on for a week now. Does anybody have any ideas on whats going on? I've checked the wires and they are plugged in the proper coils.
Any help will be appreciated.

did you mess with the throttle body while you installed the plugs? Because when I changed them I took the negative terminal off the battery just in case. Have you try to reset your ECU? Try that first, it might help.

Yes I stuck a rag in the throttle body and cleaned some grime. And yes, I also disconnected the negative from the battery before I did anything.

 

In that case, I would agree with EvilG. A lot of people have had problems after cleaning their throttle body. Before going any further, I would try an ECU and throttle body reset and see if that remedies your situtation before going any further.

There are a lot of threads about people having problems with their throttle bodies after cleaning them. I would also suggest reading some of those threads to see if their problems are similar to yours.

 

So I went to Advance Auto this aftertoon and had them use their code reader, and it says the problem is with the Idle Air Control Valve, which I'm guessing is part of the throttle body.
So I will try your suggestions and reset the ECU.
Now what's the best way to reset the ECU?

Hey tanko, if next time you want to clean your throttle body, disconnect your negative terminal and also disconnect the connector on your throttle body to avoid this problem, because I've clean my throttle body before and everything was fine as long as you disconnect the battery and the throttle body connector. As far as resetting the ECU, do this:

Operations Procedures:

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” (NOT start) and wait 3 seconds.
2. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal, kind of hard (5 TIMES!!)
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone. If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Remember, timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU. You may even need someone's help to do this correctly.

Try that and if that doesnt fix your idle issue, you might need to do a throttle body relearning process.
