Re: Techno ECU update

if you do not reset your ecu and do the things listed on the TS site, your idle may be affected becuase your pedal calibration is off. but once you do those steps, its all gravy baby. worked for me.

Re: Techno ECU update

just wondering gurgenpb, what do you mean ecu tuned for mods. did you dyno with each mod on and then off? or what did they do exactly?

Re: Techno ECU update

How often do you have to reset your ecu with the TS?

Re: Techno ECU update

I am sure I could find this out easily, but since I'm on here, is this a complete replacement ecu or just an add on chip?

Re: Techno ECU update

nuttyprof,

I mean that after I installed the mods, we looked at teh mixture settigng and connected a wideband O2 sensor (before the cat) and adjusted the mixture to an exact 12.5 under full load. That's when the car just took off!!!!

Gurgen.

the crawford leaned out the mixture quite a bit (14.0) after installing the original ECU update. SO we had to richen it back up. Hence, a tuned ECU specifical for the crawford plenum.

Re: Techno ECU update

This "Finding 20 hp in the auto" is crap. So what you are telling me is, the auto coupe has 20 less HP than the 6MT? Even though though both claim 280 HP from the factory (except the sedans which are 260), but Infiniti has detuned the G35 sedan to 240 even though the 6MT sedan came out much later. And the Coupe is only 260 hp. That is what you are tying to tell us, by saying that the autos are detuned at the factory.

Anyone seen the Mazda RX-8 scam, where the car didn't have the HP it claimed, that would be happeneing here if this ECU update were true. Let's see a before and after Dyno, then you can come in here and make claims.

Re: Techno ECU update

How long for them to tune the ecu and get it back? Is it traceable by Infiniti (warranty issues)? If you ever want to go back to stock for some weird reason, you probably can't, right? (Except for some serious $$)

Re: Techno ECU update

Also, this doesn't affect the vehicle immobilizer, does it. The Impul ECU apparently does.

Re: Techno ECU update

SalTNutz, I agree with you and am sceptical of all tuner claims till proven different. I can see that will be small difference between AT and MT cars, sedan or coupe, because of cam differences verified with my dealer. This is not unusal and typical of many cars. As to strong detuning, I smell BS unitl proven different. Mnay tuners promise the world but few deliver verified performance at the end of the day. And I don't mean "butt " dynos.

Re: Techno ECU update

-oh wait. thats right. i guess i was wrong as i have seen dynos of AT and MT sedans and they seem to be on par with each other.
-as for the immobolizer, the ECU does not effect that.
-this is untraceable by the dealer. their computers will show the original flash program.
-and finally, this is easily reprogrammed by TS i believe. you have to talk to them to make sure.

Re: Techno ECU update

do you think the diference in hp gains could be due to the grounding kit I am using? that is the only difference i can percieve as i switched back to the stock intake for the dynos.

Re: Techno ECU update

I really think the differences between the 0-60 times of the sedan 5AT versus sedan 6MT is that the 5AT loss of acceleration is due to the hydrolic automatic transmission. What I don't understand is people says that after a few days of stop and go traffic, the ECU (engine or transmission) is re learned so it will not down shift easily when floored. Only after the battery disconnect that it seems to shift faster and more willing to downshift. So even if you get the new ECU, which I believe is only for the engine management, the shifting could still be slow if you always in stop and go traffic. Thus you will still have to hard reset just to get the fast shifting, no? Power wise 5AT and 6MT sedan should be identical.
