I'm interested, definitely in the market for a computer upgrade. Is this something an average wrencher can just plug in and drive away? My concern is that I will need to have a tuner adjust the settings for optimal power bands. And if that's the case, I would much rather pay a little extra, drop off my car and have it tuned which puts me back to square one.

1. So, again, is this a simple set up to do?
2. Has anybody independently installed on their own G or Z?
3. Do we get factory support from TurboXS?

i have heard of users on my350z who have tuned themselves. you need to know what you are doing and have a wideband A/F hookup. otherwise take it to a tuner. this will work for NA and FI setups.

And proper tuning really requires a dyno. I would think road tuning with a GTECH or CIPHER or other CAN/OBD tool would also be possible but definitely requires a partner (don't wreck your G by playing with a laptop while driving!).

EDIT: I want a good group buy, but let me add that you can destroy your engine with your UTEC if you don't know what you're doing. It's not rocket science, but you have to be careful. Read about tuning first ("Modern Engine Tuning" by A. Graham Bell or "Maximum Boost" also by Bell) and understand it before experimenting. That being said, with a plug and play harness, you potentially could revert to stock should disaster strike.

Anyone know if customer service is poor or if this is just an exception?
from what i hear mounting is kinda pain in the g35. kpierson did it by switching the utec and oem ecu positions and taking some of it apart. other have done it by just taking the wholemounting braket out and just shoving it in there, the utec is mainly designed for the 350z.

the other software i dont know too much about but i do have an aem uego

Thier name is Toyko Speed Pros in Phx, AZ. I am not sure if they are an authorized dealer or not, but I dont really care as long as they can get me the part for cheap. Mounting is kinda hard in the G35 but simple in the Z. The most common place I have seen is under the passenger seat and use an extension harness.

Buddiee - if they make extension harness that would be awesome for the G35. Do you know where and how much just for that part? link?

All I found via Google was their eBay store which was kind of crappy... looks like a B&M outfit mostly.

Autosport Wiring makes a harness to go between ECU and car wiring.

http://autosportwiring.com/

The UTEC has it's own Piggyback harness so you dont need to do any splicing. Unfortunately the Autosport is almost $300

the tech support you receive from the guys at turboxs is invaluable, believe me. to me saving 150 bucks wasn't worth the aggravation of trying to decipher new technology on my own. people have tried to get warranty advice and service from them, and without an 950 invoice, your'e beat. just my two cents.

I sent e-mails asking about the product (see post above) and they never replied (not yet anyway). I'm hoping Daniel will get the details, otherwise I will call them and see what kind of customer service they provide.

Are you saying that they probably won't even answer questions about their products if you don't buy from an authorized dealer? Come on, I understand warranty service, but that's ridiculous...

The fact is turboXS IS benefitting from this. The market penetration they can get with group buys in enormous - crazy to ignore it...
