strange clicking under 20mph...

hello. i just bought my ivory pearl 2006 infiniti g35c 6mt on tuesday and it has less than 100 miles on rite now. however, i'm starting to notice a strange noise while under 20mph (basically 1st gear). i try to hear the beautiful hum of the engine, but instead, i hear a strange clicking...even when i'm in 2nd gear under 20mph it makes this noise. at higher mph, my baby is ridiculously smooth, but under 20mph, it makes a strange clicking! i'm going in to the dealership tomorrow, but i was hoping someone could give me some feedback...thank you...

o yea. furthermore, whenever i'm in gear, and i upshift, the rpms delay and stay at a certain rpm for a like a second. for example, if i'm in 2nd gear at 3500rpm, and punch the clutch, it stay at 3500 for like a second. maybe it's because i haven't broken in the car yet, but yea...any info on this?

Not to sure on the clicking. Did you try a search on the forum on this?
Try it and see if you find anything. Probably the dealer is not going to do anything but take it anyway. If you just bought the car you should. If they say its normal ask them to bring the same car and test drive it and see if you get the same noise. Make sure they are in the car with you and have them hear yours and another car. Also at the same time see if another car does the same thing when you shift aswell. Good luck and get back to us on this.

congrats on your new car. Post pics...

Is the clicking coming from the rear of the car? If it is, you might be describing a service bullitin that tries to fix a "clicking" noise coming from the left and/or right rear axel (driveshaft) when accelerating from a stop (http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-002.htm). I'm suffering from the same problem. Unfortunately I'm currently stationed overseas and Infiniti has been less than helpful with warranty work, so I'm going to just get it fixed myself.

hmmm. i took it in to infiniti, and somehow they convinced me that there was no odd sound! now, after driving home, there most definetely is a sound comming from my car. the dealership i go to is pretty busy, so i can't take it in again till tuesday, but yea...this is horrible! brand new 2006, and it makes the most annoying sound under 20mph! i guess it is so annoying to me, because i'm the driver, but yea...the sound is not all that loud, but it catches my ear...

my question is, what could possibly be wrong with the car, where the sound only comes into play under 20mph? when i'm like 30+, the car is smooth. the shift is smooth, and no other noise besides the beautiful humm of the g35/350z. but 1st and 2nd (while i'm under 20mph) makes a strange noise...sounds coarse and dry and unhealthy for the car. basically it isn't smooth like the other gears.

btw, bm14582, that link doesn't work...and i think the sound is comming from the engine bay

The link included some extra characters, so I fixed it.

By the way, I did some more research and I think this problem is fairly common for the G35 Coupe. I took it to a local German Nissan dealership and the master mechanic said that he was aware of the problem because the 350Z suffers from it too. When I showed him the TSB he knew exactly what the problem was. He also said that even though the noise is only coming from one side on my car that he would do both sides just in case. I love the German work ethic. They seem obsesed with making sure your equipment is in as perfect a condition as possible. And they are the only mechanics that I will let touch my car. I really don't like letting American mechanics do anything to my car.
