V-8 G35

Okay, a friend of mine got into an accident in his M45. He declared the car totaled and is now selling off parts, He is selling me an engine with 20,000 miles on it with the transmission and all the other necessary parts for 3,000. I know its possible to fit the engine, but I was just curious as to how the handling will change due to the new weight distribution, and if theres any way to keep it the same or make it better, or at least have it be semi stock. I personally think that this is the way to get that safe power gain. So what kind of suspension tuning will I need to make the car handle better.

If you want to go down that route and you are not performing the work yourself, be prepared to spend at least 15k to get everything sorted out...
and easier way to make power is a supercharger or turbocharger kit. But of course nothing beats the rumble of a v8 :P

Your questions lead me to think that you've never attempted an engine-swap before, so I'd strongly recommend you don't attempt your first with something as complex as a G35.

Getting the actual engine is the least of your worries. It could be free and you're still a loooooooooong way from having a V8 G35.

By the time you sort out the engine mounts, tranny, wiring harness, ECU, fuel system, cooling, etc etc etc you'll either be (a) broke or (b) staring at a useless hunk of no-engine G35.

If you've never watched someone struggle for days or even weeks sorting out a wiring harness, you'll know what I mean.

Stick to the well-proven routes, such as the aforementioned superchargers and turbos.

The Clean air act makes it illegal to install a larger engine in a car especially those made after 1995. Because just the higher displacement will produce a higher volume of emissions idling and cruising.
ODB2 computers send the VIN and engine family to the emission computer they must match.....hey boy hold on my computer says you have a V8 in that car, let's have a look .....I need to have it impounded [depending on your state].

Emission tampering can bite you big time in the future if the car is ever sold/ resold in California...........they can come and get you [if you a unlucky] and make you return it to oem or pay $10,000 fine.

What about for cars used strictly for the track? CA laws don't apply here do they? Just curious.
