clicking

have any of you been hearing a weird "clicking" noise coming from your car? i hear this click every once in a while. it seems to be coming from the center console.. somewhere around the CD player or below.. i can't figure out what it is and don't think it's the CD player itself cuz it plays the Cd's just fine.. of course, if i go to infiniti and have the service techs check it out, at that moment, the clicking won't be there.. but return once i drive off the lot..

Re: clicking

I hear the odd creak from that area (could be my right knee hahaha) but no clicking. Probably just 2 surfaces rubbing together. See if you can narrow down exactly where it's coming from maybe by pushing on the area, opening up the door to the cupholders, ash tray, centre console, shifter, etc.

Re: clicking

it's not very consistent so every time it happens, it's hard to figure out exactly where it comes from. it seems to only happen when the car is moving. you know the click you hear when you click up or down on your power windows switch? not the click of the actual button but the electronic click.. that's what it sounds like.. only it comes from the console somewhere.. i'm not sure how long this might've been going on cuz i usually have my stereo up. could be cuz of cold weather.. i don't really mind it as long as it's not some mechanical problem somewhere.

Re: clicking

As long as there's no other symtoms, don't worry about it. In this bloody deep freeze around here in Southern Ontario, there's lots of clicks, creaks, grunts and groans on cold morns. Some from the car too. LOL.....................Later

Re: clicking

how cold is it up there? i'm in southeast texas.. cold for us is around the 30's.. but forecasts predict weather in the 20's this week.. this is not the norm for us.. i'd imagine canada to have single digit or negative degree weather.

Re: clicking

Today, where I am in Southern Ont. it seems to feel worse than it is. Temp is hovering around 22 F, last night it went down to about 12 F but felt much colder cuz of dampness. Not too bad considering out in the Prairies right now ( parts of Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) it's down to about -25 to -35 at night, with daytime highs at a lofty '0'. Makes your 20-30 seem like springtime to them.
Our usual winters where I am aren't hard to take. Pretty tame compared to some.
Guess we're getting off the clicking thread...LOL...I'll post more on the OFF TOPIC forum sometime and compare notes on Ontario and Texas.
Love my new Coupe.................

Re: clicking

Hi. My G35S had a clicking that I thought originated from below the seat. I have the seat at the lowest position so I thought the clicking came from the myriad of wires under the seat. It turns out that the lower part of the center console, under the cup holder, was the source. I crammed a small piece if weatherstripping, soft black foam, under the left front corner and the clicking has dissappeared. I discovered this by pushing that part of the console laterally.

Re: clicking

why would it make that sound, though? is something rubbing or bumping into something else?

Re: clicking

Wait 'till you get as old as me. All you'll have to do is turn the hearing aid down a notch or 2...LOL

Pestilence: What's that you say, can't hear ya my h/aid is busted. haha

Envykillz: It's cold where I live and when the heating is on, it causes vents and dash to creak. Is that maybe what you can hear?

Re: clicking

I really con not believe that none of you G35 nerds don't know what the noise is. For some reason the changer loads the next cd before the cd that is playing is done. Now how it knows that the cd is almost over is beside me but that's what the noise is. When I first heard it in my car I thought it was the nav. cd loading, but after further investigation I heard it again and it comes from the changer. Hope this helps! And has anyone heard a popping noise coming from where the windsheild meets the dash.
