Re: FIRST TUNE-UP?

The "free car wash" is worthless. They don't do a good job, and it takes an extra 20 minutes to get my car back when they're "done" with it. They always hit-and-miss on the wheels, leaving the brake dust on half the wheels and looking really tacky. They don't get all the bugs off the front grill.

The last time they changed my oil, they forgot to replace two of the bolts for the front underbody diffuser. The techs at the dealership that do oil changes aren't at the top of the mechanic food chain, and don't put as much care and attention into their job as you do on your own car.

You do have to follow the guidelines in the owner's manual for maintanence, but by no means does the dealer have to do it. Besides, I've built up a pretty good rapport with my service advisor with frequent radio replacments, wobbling seat issues, and other such stuff.

Re: FIRST TUNE-UP?

You don't even need to save your oil receipts. For any warranty work on any of my cars I have never been asked for any upkeep information whatsoever, and I do all my own work in my shop. Keeping each and every receipt for everything done to the car in its warranteed lifetime is not a reasonable expectation. Just do the proper maintenance, log it in the nice little Infinity maintenance book you got with the car, and keep the receipts if it makes you feel better.

Re: FIRST TUNE-UP?

My point exectly.

if they actually put better effort into taking care of the car... may be then and only then would i consider giving them my business.

i come to realize that thos grease monkeys you find in some no name shop who work for barely any money, actually care for my car a lot more because i ask them to and causse i stand there and watch over them then the guys at a dealer.
as far as the car washes.... it takes me 45 min to wash the car... by hand. and it looks even better then new.

Re: FIRST TUNE-UP?

I'll tell you why like the prelude more then the G..............
I got the prelude brand new in 2001 and even before i got it...it was one of the most rarest car's to see on a road. At the time the prelude came out, it was one of the best cars rated. this thing did better then a BMW and other sports coups. It has a clean look and style and it doesnt resamble anyting out there. its not by no means the fastest things around or the lightest. but the car just sooo much fun. I put a lot of work into it... body work/suspension/engine so now i like it even more cause i have it set up to the way i like it.
You can throw this thing into a turn and it will respond so perfect. when i sit in it... its basic... doesnt have a lot of stuff in it, so the basics are just right for it. I take this thing to autoX and to raod races. You can ask any prelude owner past or present how would they describe the car... and i bet each will say the same thing... that its soo much fun.

The G on the other hand...is a lot more bulkier car...heavier even after 2 month having it... i'm still not use to it. Its fast....very fast. but there is just something about it. thats not quiet the same as the prelude. i like the luxury side of the G much better and although the seats are a bit more comfortable the the prelude. i find myself more relaxed driving the G then the prelude. The G just wanna makes me relax, pput the seat back and cruise around. while the prelude makes you feel like you connected to the road.

these are 2 different cars...and its hard to compare the 2. where on one side 1 is luxury the other is sportier. I'm sure you know ... that there are some cars that you get into and they just feel right. Well kinda funny but thats how i feel about the prelude. May be the G will grow on me the same way in that sense in the future, guess for now i'm still gonna have fun with a prelude.
