Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
I bought a G35s in April. After I fill the tank with gasoline, close the hatch, and return to the driver's side door, I find that all 4 doors are locked. This is annoying. Do others find this happening? Is there a way to over-ride this "feature"?
Good thing I always take my keys with me to unlock the fill hatch.

Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
My family just purchased a brand new Toyota Camry and we got a security system with it. It locks the doors automatically if you leave the car (with it off) and don't do anything for more than like 2 minutes. It may be like that on the G.

Chaz,
If you locked the doors and went inside to pay, tehn came back out and unlocked it to open the gas door. Unless you have unlocked one of the doors, the system thinks you may have just hit the remote by mistake and locks it after a couple of minutes.
Also, though the do not mention it in the manual, those of us that do not have the Premium Package, the headlights turn off after a few minutes if left on.

Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
Thanks Merlin, but that is not exactly what I am doing...I just drive up to the pump, open the door and get out, press the key fob twice to unlock the gas hatch, put my credit card in the "pay at the pump", pump in the 92 octane, let the pump stop, look at the final price and curse my leadfoot driving habits, put the pump nozzle away, close the hatch, grab my receipt, run around to the driver's side, and every time find that the damn door is locked.

Chaz,
Pressing the button twice or once, does not matter, to unlock the gas door with all the doors closed will cause the alarm to activate the locks. I guess they are trying to second think owners and say maybe we pressed the wrong button or forgot to ........
Either way the doors will lock.

Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
Thanks - is there a way around it - leave the driver's side door ajar? The dealer told me that I had to press the key fob to unlock the gas hatch - I actually never tried to open the hatch without doing that first.
Oh well - I can live with it - it is just another annoyance like the itty-bitty analog clock and the "auto" position on the headlamp stick

Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
Once you open a door (not the gas door or the trunk, it must be a door) after a keyfob press, the system is deactivated and will not automatically lock. You can even close the door after opening it.

I want my car to lock when I shift out of PARK and drive away and unlock when I shift it back into PARK after it's been in R-N-D. Is that possible?

Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
I just filled my tank yesterday w/out any issue. I had been driving w/ all doors open, turned off car, opened and closed drivers door, and then opened the gas tank by just pressing on the hatch (no press of the key fob). I filled it, shut the hatch and walked back and my door was still unlocked. Could it be the pushing on the hatch?
Re: Doors Lock After Filling with Gas
The automatic lock only functions if it is programmed that way. I believe the factory default setting is no auto lock.
As spclfx posted above, have service look at it and program off the auto lock setting.
