Keep in mind the 50hp gain is for turbo cars, not NA cars. You'll never see 50hp gains with a tuner on an NA car.

I haven't read the link, and am not arguing whether the link said one thing or another.

But I truly believe that a 3.5VQDE based vehicle (G35/350z) with the right parts, and a tune to take advantage of those parts, could come close to gaining 50 hp at the crank. We all know how easy it is to get 50hp off a turbo car just by cranking boost and feeding fuel.

For instance:

intake
headers
exhaust
manifold/spacer
hi-flow cats
tune...

I think this would net close to 40 HP at the wheels... I really do. One problem with aftermarket parts these days is that they may work in theory, but the ECU can't take advantage of them. The right tune will take advantage of these parts.

edited: to specify VQDE engine. I don't think the new VQHR has as much left on the table from the factory. It's already about 17 crank HP higher than the VQDE.

I believe you are going to have to add cams, UDP, MREV to that list if you want any chance at an additional 50 whp

Vodkarocket managed to get 39 whp (figuring a 20% drivetrain loss that's almost 50 hp) from bolt ons and a tune (no cams). Quote from Vodkarocket in another thread.
"VERY worth it if you're not going FI. I had TopSpeed headers (same design as Strup), and I gained 39RWHP with tuning in conjunction to the headers/cats/exhaust/intake.MREV. They make a big difference in the mid-range and upper rev range, and totally transform the feel of the car. My car pulled hard on any NA 350z/G35 I would encounter. My suggestion, buy the TopSpeed headers for less than half the price of the Strup's, and apply the money saved to the installation."

Look at UpRev's Osiris.
I got tired of waiting on word from Cobb. UpRev's product has lot's a great features, and is getting very good reviews.

Does anyone currently offer an OBD2 programmer for the G35? if so, does it have diagnostic functions, such as idle speed reset? It's getting to where you need factory software for each brand these days!

The AccessPort for 2003-2006 350z's was just released so we will probably see the one for the G35 here shortly.

Still skeptical, I haven't seen a lot of experiences using it on boosted applications. I've checked here and on their forums.
