RB26 Swap Project
All im saying is whats wrong with the VQ, I can see 240sx's doing this but why dont you just build your block, sleeve it and throw a turbo kit on it Youll be able to get 700 hp
I love the sound of the VQ engine... but it doesn't even come close to the sound of an RB##DETT and obviously can't withstand the same level of abuse on stock internals.... so this project has my interest. I hope it works out, and wish you the best of luck. Can't wait to see a finished product sometime soon. If they did it in that Z, I see no reason why it can't be done similarly in a G.
There was a post on here a few weeks ago about some guys who found a scraped 2008+ G35 Sedan undercover test-car in a junkyard. Somewhere in there, it mentioned that Nissan was going to be redoing the VQ Engine altogether with improved internals so that it could also be used as the platform for the new GTR... but that all of the other vehicles that get the VQ block would also get most of the new improvements. If any of this is true... hopefully the new VQ will be a more capable competitor against the old RB Series of engines as far s the tuning market is concerned(ability to withstand high boost on stock internals, etc).

how bout this....i love stiring the pot...my boys putting a 2Jz in his 350z or an RB....probably leaning more towards the 2Jz because it can hold 1000hp stock...both will fit both will need management and yes we know customization is a must...and i realize half the people on ths form dont even do there own work so when you do most of it on your own your aright....cars that we have to back this up

why go for a low mileage engine?
just tear it down and add a stroker kit to the block and go with a full head prep setup. if you are going to spend tons of money just because of a certain engine, why not go all out anyway?
good luck with the project. i'd love to see it's future.

this is what always happens, people put so much doubt in the project, the people just decided to finish it and show it at the end or not show at all. sometimes people need to stfu because it's not your car. sure you can push out 1000hp out of VQ but by experience, you can push 1000hp out of RB with tuning that is tested over time, 330lb heavier? so? with a RB26 you can also use the GTR 6speed, this means you can finally get rid of the transmission from the G, which probably can't handle 700+ hp anyway.
I for one would love to see this project finished. if you think VQ is better for the project then do it and show us, until then, STFU.

Hey guys i know i havnt been updating you guys much i got the motor but im rebuilding it pistons, rods, and im going single turbo as well so the project is going to take a lil longer then expected ill post pics of the motor build =)
