Chip question

Anybody have any opinions on performance chip applications on the VQ35. I haven't come across anyone that has chipped this engine. If so, is there an improvement? Which is best... Thanks

Just an FYI, modern day cars no longer use "chips". You can get your ECU re-flashed or get a Unichip or UTEC to program your ECU.

As far as which is better, I'll let someone else answer since I'm running my ECU at the stock settings.

This ain't your big brother's firebird, son.

There aren't any plug&play chips for our vehicles (i.e. JET, etc.). Like the poster above said, you either send it to Technosquare for a reflash based on your mods for $550 (I think), or you install an Emanage Basic or Ultimate, UTEC, MOTEC, Fcon, or similar piggyback or standalone engine/fuel management system. They'll range in price from $400 to $4000, not including tuning.

Many people will argue that you don't need to tune N/A, but I just got my Zeitronix WBO2 hooked up yesterday, and with just basic bolt ons I'm running a bit on the thin side (AFR 14.7-15.3). I've already got my emanage, just havent' hooked it up yet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Just curious... My car is now set up almost identical to yours except for the Borla exhaust..how do you like the Borla setup since this is the system I'm leaning to.

I have both the Technosquare reflash and the Borla exhaust. Together, they seem to do about as much for performance as a good car wash. But the Borla will give you a nice drone to listen to under 2500 rpm.

You will see far more improvement from putting your money into suspension mods like Eibach springs and roll bar and Tokico D-Spec shocks than you will for bolt-on performance mods.

Does Unichip void factory Warranty?
