Since reading so much about our ecu on here I was wondering if all the ecu's on the cupe sedan and 350z are all phisically the same meaning the computer components. My main question is if the coupe/sedan is programed different than the Z why cant nissan just flash the programming from the z onto the sedan/coupe right at the dealer. For instance what if your ecu programming got erased some how couldn't nissan/infiniti just reprogram it.

 

the 5AT sedan ECU is different from the 6MT sedan and all coupes and 350Z. There are different components to keep track of in different cars (e.g electric fan in all but the 5at sedan, etc).

The 5at sedan has a regular steel/aluminum casing, while the others named above are black in color. Do not know if all components inside are same or different. What I do know is that if you get hte TS ECU upgrade, you will be getting tuned 350Z (not stock) timings/mixture in your sedan.

So regardless of the ECU, your performance is the same among all the cars named.

i have a 6mtC. do i have to do the ecu reset or is it not necessary with the MT

it is never necessary, but you do get the nice features like a 7100 rpm redline not to mentiontion the slight performance boost.
