best intake out there so far.

im in the market looking to buy a new intake for my 05 6mt. i just dont know which one to go with.

some people are telling me to go injen cold air intake all the way.
some other people are telling me go with Z tube with JWT PopCharger all the way.

i just dont know which one will make me the happiest.

i want something that sounds really nice like the jwt but i also want the better performance like the injen. but injen is a cold air so i might have flooding issues on rainy days. somebody help me!

I had an Injen before and now I have a JWT after changing from a panel style (OEM style) K&N filter. Performance????? No real change what so ever!!!!!! They all do a good job of sucking up air. Some will argue about the temp of air it sucks in and if your at a stop light yeah.......... I guess they're right. But flying down the road.......... Nah not really. As far as sound goes and probably why people buy this, the Injen is loudest!!! Hands Down!!! Easy win. As for sucking up water........... I never had an issue with water. A nice person forced me into a huge puddle during a rain storm and I was blinded from the water coming over the hood of the car and still nothing. I went slowly through deep water one time when you could hear the water slapping on the bottom of the car and still nothing. If you drive your car in the lake .......... then you have a problem. I hate when people say you'll get hydro locked if you drive in the rain or go through a puddle!!!! I'd say that your budget should dictate what you will get or the sound you're looking for. Hope I helped!

If I had gone with the CAI I would have hydrolocked my engine maannny times by now. I would suggest the stillen z-tube ($59 direct + s&h) and a K&N filter ($50 roughly, check ebay) make sure if you go that route that it comes with the adapter. Why spend the extra money and worry about water issues when you can spend less and not have to worry. Performance gains are niltch between the two..as you are obviously only gaining sound with an intake. save yourself the worry. the popcharger is also a good route and used by many members, but is semi-costly.

I lost power with my Pop-charger, and have heard the same thing about a few others including Nismo, etc. I went quickly back to a Z-Tube and K&N panel filter.

The only intake I've heard consistently good things about is the Stillen, and they seem to have a good package deal with the Stillen Z-tube and CAI for $246.

After watching most others' experience with a lot of the CAI(s), I decided to got with the simple-but-effective option. I installed the Z-tube and a hi-flow panel filter in the OEM box (not a K&N or other oil-based filter). In my NA application, this provides more-than-adequate flow. The increased intake growl is a perfect match for the headers/cats. The combo also works very well with the MREV+.

Go with a Z-tube and Panel filter. I'm one of the guys that has the Nismo CAI, and I'm sure I lost power through out most of the rev band. Sounds great, but it's also a pain in the *** to clean.

If you want a cool looking and sounding intake go with Injen or AEM. If you're worried about hydrolock, go with Stillen or some Z-tube/Pop charger combo. It depends on the flooding situations where you live. If your local roads flood a lot then don't go with the full CAI like Injen or AEM. I've had my CAI on for 2 years and never had any issues with it and don't anticipate any. I love the sound it produces. Just make sure you install it right.

Do you have evidence to support this?

from what I've seen online is that the best system to go with is a z tube and if you want upgrade to a k&N filter. The factory intake system is good just like how it is minus the tube.

Yeah, the Z-Tube & K&N drop-in is a really GOOD combo. that's what i started with BUT the sound just wasn't as agressive as i wanted. so, i moved on to the JWT BUT it was jus too common. this is my set up now and WOW this is REALLY the best sounding combo on a VQ i've ever heard. i really need to by a digi camcorder so you guys can hear it for yourself.

That set up is awesome...what are all the components. Obviously the ARC intake tube but what about the heatshield and the actual filter (looks like some parts from a pop-charger)??? I am also in the market for an intake and want something unique.

i have an AEM intake running short ram.. you can also purchase the air bypass valve, which eliminates the fear of sucking up water with the AEM run as a CAI.. Do you know if you can slap a popcharger on the end of a short ram AEM intake?

Got an INJEN for sale as of today if your interested. I have to admit the Injen sounded louder than what I have now.
