The Toluene in BG 44k is just a carrier [found in gasoline] to dilute and transport the detergents..........a few ounces in 11 ounces. vs a few drops in Techron using the same carrier solvent.

If you use a few [2] bottles of Techron in say 3 gallons of gasoline you might get similar test results................??

For any octane booster [that is not lead, ferric, or manganese] to improve octane you would need 10% [2 gallons] to be material. 11 ounces in 2560 ounces of fuel won't do anything octane wise.

Something that is 114 octane mixed with 91 octane [114 x0.1=11.4 + 91 x 0.9= 81.9 SUMMING yields 11.4 + 81.9 = 93.3 octane if added at 10%.


Many people don't realize that the POINTS promised by over the counter octane boosters are 0.1 points of octane boost what a great marketing ploy..........use of the words POINTS [not decimal POINTS].

1,000 gallons of gasoline)."


Currently refiners add 0.4 gallons of detergent in solvent to 1,000 gallons of premium gasoline............it is estimated that only 20% of this is actual detergent so 1/10,000 so 1/100th of a percent is deemed satisfactory.

i dont know the tech stuff about fuel chemicals but i,ve been using SEA_FOAM [not a boat product] for years.. its the best 'carbon cleaner' i have found.. it cleans carbon,varnish and is a lubricant.. 1 bottle per 16-24 gallons.. nissan/infiniti dont have the problems that ford and gm do..it can be found at n.a.p.a stores #sf16 ... been using it in everything for 8 years every 3 months never a problem...........

 

If you read the attached pdf you will see that this product only contains:
Pale oil, naphtha, and IPA [isopropyl alcohol]. No detergents pretty useless but it will do no harm. Note that each version contains the same 3 ingredents just the % are juggled for different applications.

Similar to Marvel Mystery Oil.

PALE OILS are light coloured, non-staining naphthenic oils refined from specially selected wax-free crude through the use of severe hydrogenation. This process produces oils of excellent initial colour and colour stability while maintaining their compatibility with most synthetic elastomers.

The above could best be described as the semi syjthetic oil found in oil of that genre.............a hydrogenated oil

You can buy ISOHEET 98% IPA and semi sythetic oil at Walmart and Naphtha at paint or Homedepot and mix your own for less.
