Mod Combination

Assuming a 5AT stock will do 14.6. What would one expect with the following mods.

Injen Intake
Crawform Plenum
all 3 lightweight pulleys
lighter flywheel
7 wire Hyper Ground Kit
Techno Sqware ECU mods
Nismo catback\header
modified cats
cam updgrade R

THink we'd get to 13.9 without FI?

Re: Mod Combination

13.9 definatelly but .............. you will need some very good rubber.

Crawford Plenum / Z tube + Stillen Hi-Flow / Borla Dual Exhaust / Stillen Xdrilled+Stotted Rotors
Best 1/4 mile 14.371 @ 100.29, 60ft 2.347

Re: Mod Combination

I think the rubber is important for the actual timing so lets think more theoretically about the 13.9. Since I have the auto anyway I wont actually worry too much about track times and just want the 20-90 power that is used in the more urban setting...knowing if I put some shaved radials on it I could go to track in drop into 13's.

Re: Mod Combination

You need to stop all of that extra power. Upgrade the brakes as well.

Re: Mod Combination

Well you said 13.9 so I fugured track time. I know from going to the track myslef that the launch and minimal tire spin is the key to the 60 foot time and then the entire 1/4 mile time.

Re: Mod Combination

Really - only another 6 or 7 tenths - not in m3 territory yet and we have the best brakes in the business for stopping already? In reality these things would happen over a long time. As I get bored I would do one more thing until the list was completed. I would think the brakes would be last. Perhaps some upgraded pads and rotors next install but no new calipers or anything.

Re: Mod Combination

The track gives you a real comparable incrimental difference. That power is still there in the ranges in which I would use it in my daily driving whether it was measued or not with the type of launch that would the best times in the track setting. I wouldn't want to change tires every winter so I use the all seasons and they are just pointless on the track. I see your point but I am less concerned about actual 1/4 times and launching the car. I just want to see what these incrimental difference would be via the standard measurment - 1/4 miles.

Re: Mod Combination

I believe I will be in the 13s next year, I will be investing in sobe wide rubber. The 60ft time is the killer if you look at my trap speed my car should be in the 13s as is right now. But I keep spinning the tires a lot any way i try to launch it. I do have 14k miles on the pilots so that might have something to do with it as well. I have seen 1badGs 5AT coupe do 14 flat with a bit less mods so it comes down to me working on my launch technique and better rubber.

Re: Mod Combination

I think that there is no flywheel on a 5AT, only on a 6MT. So that mod alone will probally get you there, and a sticker or 2

Re: Mod Combination

Have you experimented with tire pressures on the Pilots?
On the street, I find a world of diff in straight line traction between 28 psi and the factory 35 psi. Just wondering.

Re: Mod Combination

The pads and rotors are what I was talking about. As for calipers, get Brembos if you feel you need to upgrade. I agree with you that our car has the best brakes in our class, but our stock rotors suck and our pads wear out too fast.
