Not sure where you heard this, but I don't think it's true. Synthetic and Dino oil are fully compatible with one another. Some oil manufacturers make a Sythetic Blend of oil and all this is is a mixture of Synthetic and Dino oil blended together(Castrol Syntec Blend for example).

The only thing with Synthetics is that some people who switch from Dino oil to Full Synthetic in a car that has high milleage(like 100K miles) experience a little bit of oil burning due to the rings being slightly worn and the moderately thinner Synthetic oil seeping through the space between the worn ring and the piston wall. Only some people have this happen.... personally, it's never happened to me and I've switched 2 different cars over from Dino oil to Synthetic at 90K or a higher miles with no oil burning issues.

Ng on the Jiffy Lube. Go to your dealer and get on his distribution list. Get the discounted price and be safe.

we are talking about an oil change right?!

it takes 5 minutes to lift the car. 2 minutes to take off the oil plug. while the oil is draining unscrew the oil filter should take maybe 3-5 minutes tops. put the oil plug back in. screw on a new filter. fill er' up. drop her down. ok so i lied it takes more like 15 but still. its not that difficult. ive changed my oil 3 times now. the only thing you need to do under the hood is put in the oil lol. im not tryin to flame anyone here but what is so difficult about that?!

I'm not sure what mechanism you're using to lift your car... perhaps a real mechanical lift of some sort...

But for me, I only have Rhino Ramps and a set of taller metal ramps. The car barely clears the rhino ramps(rubs a little), and there's no way it'd ever get on the taller metal ramps due to the height of them. Maybe changed the design of the engine undercover on the 2006 Coupes so oil changes are easier.... but on my '04 Coupe, if you're using Rhino Ramps, the only way to change your oil is to remove the undercover(I guess you could call it a skidplate), because it blocks access to the oil drain plug and pretty much to the oil filter as well.

I've changed the oil in my car 8 times soo far, and that's the only way I've ever been able to do it. If I had access to a vehicle lift and could get the car up off the ground by about 2 feet, I could probably just remove the rearmost few screws and then bend the engine undercover down and do the oil change with the thing hanging. Unfortunatly, this is not the case.

Does your '06 even have an engine undercover?

wtf? this is what happends when ur uneducated and you believe in the synthetic hype. dyno oil are good up to 4-7k.

the 3000 mile oil change crap was suggested by those oil change chains.

read ur manual. oh yeah, my navigation maintenance thing indicates that my oil change will be at 3700... but the 1st oil cange i'll do at 1500. since the engine is breaking in and all the metal particles floating around isn't good.

huh? i was just wanted to know, since i was using synth and the dealer put in non-synth, if there would be anything wrong. i did my first oil change at 1200 then i'm planning on doing them at around 3k mi just for the hell of it. i'm 'uneducated' but i do believe in the synth hype

u have a top notch car... why take it to a bang out oil lube shop. what u do is your choice. I prefer to do it my self, i take my time, wipe things down. the money spent on a good quality oil and filter will reflect your interest in what you think about your car. i use a good 5w40 synthetic amsoil and a Purolator Pro filter. i change it every 3000K because thats what i like to do.

Guys,

Your car needs to be level when you drain your oil. If not, you will leave 1/4 of it in the crank case.

Best thing to do is NOT to use ramps. Jack it up (put some jack stands up for safety) uncork it and then set it back down to drain.

I know it takes longer but it's the correct thing to do. Unless you lift all 4 wheels of the ground to make the car level in the air.
