2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan Fuel Line Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign [Sep. 24, 02]
Background
Infiniti will be conducting a voluntary safety recall campaign on 2003 model
year G35 sedans.
Affected Vehicles:
NNA 18,000 vehicles built January 7, 2002 - July 25, 2002
NCI 2,300 vehicles built January 7, 2002 - July 25, 2002
TOTAL VEHICLES: 20,300
Affected markets
This campaign only affects vehicles sold in Canada and U.S. territories.
Reason for Action
On some Infiniti G35 sedans manufactured during the time periods noted
above, there is a possibility that the fuel hose connection from the fuel
pump may not have been properly attached when the vehicle was assembled and
could come loose while driving or when starting the engine. If the
connection comes loose while driving, the engine will stop running due to
lack of fuel, which could result in an accident. Also, if the connection
comes loose while driving or attempting to start or restart the engine, some
fuel will discharge from the fuel pump, which could lead to a fire.
Infiniti Action
Infiniti will begin sending notification letters to owners beginning October
15, 2002 informing them to bring their vehicle to an Infiniti dealer. The
dealer will inspect and, if necessary, properly attach the fuel hose to the
fuel pump free of charge.
Statement
"On some 2003 Infiniti G35 sedans, there is a possibility
that the fuel hose connection from the fuel pump may not have been properly
attached when the vehicle was assembled and could come loose while driving
or when starting the engine. If the connection comes loose while driving,
the engine will stop running due to lack of fuel. Also, if the connection
comes loose while driving or attempting to start or restart the engine, some
fuel will discharge from the fuel pump. No accidents or injuries have
occurred due to this condition. Infiniti is committed to a high level of
customer safety and service and will be working with its dealers to promptly
address this condition."

Re: Recall
I've heard about this. I noted that they performed the fuel-line check during my 1st oil change, so I'm handled. At least they're not burying the problem...
The dealer said something like only a handful of cars actually had the problem, but better safe than sorry.
