Possible engine/performance issue?
Hello all,
I've noticed a few people complaining of possible performance issues from accelerating from standstill. My car is acting a bit different.
Sometimes it's great..very fast, other times it takes forever (we're talking 8 to 10 seconds here). I don't think i'm pushing the pedal that much harder or softer....don't know if this is an issue or not. When i get first oil change/check up, I am gonna have the car looked over...ignition system, pedals, etc I think just to make sure nothing is wrong.
I'm still in break in period but i'm not going that crazy on the car...in fact, most of time i am trying to keep car below 2500 rpm (not easy to do)...and I haven't taken it on highways yet...(i have taken it up to 110 km/h though, for a short burst in an 80 km/h zone
hehe
Later. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Sanjay

Re: Possible engine/performance issue?
I noticed this on the G35 when I first got it. Sometimes it was suprisingly quick and I had to really pay attention not ot accelerate into the back of the vehicle I was passing. Either I have developed a feel for the engine, or this has sorted itself out over the 7000km it has been in my possession.
If I want it to accelerate to redline, I simply stay committed to the throttle. The finely tuned transmission can tell the difference and will shift where you tell it to, even if you aren't sure what you are trying to say.
As for the manual shifter, treat it like a manual transmission. Rev match on downshift and lift slightly on upshift and it responds more quicky and smoothly.
