help, oil leaking from top plenum!

Hey guys, i got an 03 g35c with a 1/2 md spacer installed, well i had no problems since the initial install which was about a year ago. but now i don't know if it's that, that is causing this leak. well let me describe it to you. you know on the top plenum there are 6 bolts that hold it down? well it looks like this...

________
|O O O |
| O O O|
________

HAHA. well thats an infamous attempt at drawing it without a real picture, but i could get a pic but i'm to lazy and stressed out, i just need to know what's wrong. well each O represents the bolts that hold down the plenum, and the bolded one is the one that's leaking oil. it's as if the oil is making a little puddle within the crevice of the bolt. any ideas guys? all insight welcomed!!!

is it a sealant problem? gasket? and how much would it cost to fix? thanks guys!

*edit*

btw that isn't mine but it's from a thread somewhere... but yea.

here's a pic. lol

it might be the screw that is either loose or too tight and caused it to break from inside. Try replacing the screw and see what happens, and hope that your lower plenum doesn't have crossthreaded threads.

ah alright thanks, btw what would crossthreaded threads do with the lower plenum?

the screw screws into the lower plenum holding the upper and lower plenums together.

I recently helped someone re-torque their plenum bolts and a bunch of them were loose...

i have no clue what those bolts are used for, with after-market plenums u get screws and loctite to cover them up... but im sure retorquing the bolts should fix the problem

Are you sure its leaking out from the plenum? There is usually a vaccume in there so anything leaking out is difficult to do. It usually goes the other way around.

Could it be a drop of oil landed on there from a oil change?

At WOT, no vacuum in created. Going from full vacuum to no vacuum can cause some gaskets and seals to weep oil. I know that the VQ30s would leak oil from both the valve covers and the gasket between the upper and lower intake manifolds. This oil leakage does sound a bit weird because if oil is pooling, the leak must be significant. My guess is the bolt is loose.

I just noticed this today on my car, little bit of oil around the front drivers bolt on plenum top. I cleaned and retorqued, I'll let you know if it comes back.

Even if the bolt were loose/out, you should end up w/ a vacuum leak. The only oil in the manifold would be vapor from the pcv valve, most of which would sucked into the engine to be burned - the rest puddles in the bottom center and drains into the ports through small holes in the lower manifold.
