Many factors affect the outcome of oil analysis tests and as such can only provide usable information for the vehicle the oil sample came from, only. Any oil analysis laboratory will state this.

BULL SHIT...

The more tests you add to the mix, the more valid it becomes. If you are working off of the "mean" values of all the tests, it has a lot to offer.

Contact any oil analysis laboratory for verification. It is not a valid.

I have had full synthetic in mine after 500 miles and have not had any issues.

Not valid for what? Selling Amsoil?

FWIW - I had the dealer doing oil changes the first 60,000 and they used Castrol GTX. I had no problems what so ever.

At 63,500 I tried Amsoil HP and started having "dry start" noise if the car sat unused for a few days. It scared the sh*t out of me. I've tried Mobil 1 the last three oil changes and I've had a couple of "dry starts."

I'm now at 79,000 and I'm going to go back to the Castrol GTX and see what happens.

I've never had any oil loss issues with any of the oils, just the noisy (metal sound) starts once in a while.

Interestingly, on their smaller turbo SUV (RDX), Acura ONLY recommends Mobil 1 5 30.
It specifically says in the owners manual that using any other oil 'may' void your warranty.
I think they are looking for a minimum quality oil and using M1 as a reference.
And rather than be concerned about all the others that might comply to their requirements they are recommending one that they know does, and is easy to find.

As far as I know, it's still used as a factory fill on several high performance domestics and imports.
