New Stroker Kits???
New Stroker Kits???
hey does anyone have any information or ideas or maybe advice about the Brian Crower Stroker upgrade kit? it says it makes it a 4.15L from a 3.5L so wat does this do? im a lil newb on this so yea... is it a good idea to do this... i mean im planning on gettin greddy tt later so is this wat i should do first? or does anyone have any other alternative stroker kits?
AEBS and JUN also make stroker kits for the VQ35 motor. I think they all run a bigger bore in addition to the longer stroke. They are all pretty expensive too. From what I've heard, stroker kits give you a fatter powerband and more power down low, while sacrificing some top end.
What are your horsepower goals? You can make big power (650+ whp) with the stock 3.5L displacement and a twin turbo kit by building the engine (pistons, rods, head work, cams, oversize valves, etc.), upgrading the fuel system (return fuel system, fuel pump upgrade, and bigger fuel injectors), and a good engine management system (HKS FCon V-Pro, UTEC, etc).
If you go with one of the stroker kits, I would recommend keeping boost levels modest and would be apprehensive about running high boost. For reliability, I wouldn't want to push the limits of the block after removing material to bore & stroke past 4 liters displacement.
It says your location is Downey (California?). If you're in SoCal, there are lots of shops there that you can consult about your plans/ideas.

Hey SIAMG35,
I've been over on my350Z.com searching their forced induction forums. Their is a lot more info over there about stroker kits compared to this site. I highly encourage you to do research over there. I'm glad I did!
My concerns about running high boost with a stroker kit have been alleviated after doing more research and reading a particular thread over there. Check out this thread: http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247813
GT Motorsports is doing two builds with their 4.24L stroker kit and are planning to crank the boost up to 24PSI in their goals to reach 800+ or maybe even 1000whp!
They are using a Darton sleeve kit to strengthen the block, so no worries. They have already run 13PSI safely on one of the cars.
