Cam Question
Cam Question
Ok guys, I've used the search button and haven't found what I was looking for.....so hear it goes.
As far as cams go, which ones will help me more on the low end? I know that cams can really hurt your low end power and provide top end HP. However, I am somewhat looking for the opposite.
Which is the best out of the following:
JWT Cams
Tomei
Nismo
Drivability and idle are very important to me. I don't want something that's going to make driving my car miserable, but I'm definitely wanting to add power on the bottom end.
On another note.....is there an aftermarket throttle body that you'd recommend? I thought that Crawford made one, but I cannot find one.

The more duration and overlap you have in the camshafts, the more top end power you will have.
To much camshaft can destroy drivability.
The factory cams aren't bad at all, You could always just advance your cams one or two degress
That will help low end power and shift your peak power down.

Bringing an old post back... I'm looking into the possibility of cams... recently had Osiris (with cam timing adjusted) - I'm confused by the varying info I've been finding... the post above, plus these two from another thread:
If anyone can clarify it would be great... I'm looking for more immediate low end trq...
Also looking for the response to the OP of this thread - what aftermarket cams are suggested:
Nismo (not high on my list)
JWT (which ones if this is the choice)
Tomei (I've heard a few good things, but not a lot of info)
GT Motorsport (I just happened to see a thread with these)
Or any others that might be worth while... If/when I get cams I will do headers as well and have the cam timing adjusted on dyno tune.
Viable info please, not theory.
Thank you.

The VQ Cams are degreed in stock with to much advance.
I would try 1 degread retard intake 2--2.5 degree retard exhaust.
This is much easier than a cam change? I have not dynoed my car sense the cam change,
But feel it made a good 20 ponies. Car ran 107mph in the 1/4 without slicks @ 4800 feet (Utah)
