I've never used acetone, but I have used Toluene to increase octane when I had my 96 Maxima. One gallon of Toluene mixed with 4 gallons of 92 octane pushed overall octane into the 97 range which was pretty ideal for my Maxima's JWT ECU programming.

I heard acetone makes your car shinier when mixed with wax. Someone should try it.

I read quite a bit, including the link to "skeptics" reports... Like most of these types of issues there will always be reports pro and con.

I will not be trying it - but it would make an interesting episode on Myth Busters.

Supposedly, putting a quart of tranny fluid into your tank makes for a good fuel injector cleaner, too.

I'm too tired to google, so if somebody could do it for me and post their findings, that would be greeeeeaaaaaat, mkay?
