Infinity Replacing my Motor!!!
Infinity Replacing my Motor!!!
Hey whats up guys. So this is a odd case, and according to the Infinity dealership in Van Nuys, CA they never seen this issue before. My 2004 6mt is in the dealership since last Friday getting its new engine. I was hoping that after I get my car back with the new motor maybe you guys can give me some insight on what I should be checking for.
Ok, so around 30,000 miles I noticed that my car was asking for oil around 3000, 3500miles. Now, i am religious about changing my oil with full synthetic and keeping it well maintained. I know the way you drive your car has to do with how you change your oil and it should not be asking me for oil then. I just know my car like the back of my hand. As time passed, it got worse and worse. It would ask me for oil when it shouldnt and i would hear metal on metal knicks and grinds. The dealership always said, "your just low on oil, im like "no ****, thats what im saying, wtf is it?". At around 45,000 miles it got worse. They didnt know what was the cause or what was sucking up the oil. No oil residue was ever seen in the bottom of the car, so where is it going? I dont know =(
At almost 50,000 miles they took my car in for a oil consumption test. What they do is fill your car up with 5 full quarts and then you go back in 1500 miles to check the status. Well, it happened to be that when I went back the first time, it sucked up 2 1/2 quarts in 1500 miles. My kind service representative at Infinity told me that they were going to fill it up and do one more test. If the results came back the same, i would get issued a brand spanking new motor from Nissan. So, I go home after test #2 and am told to go back after another 1500miles. Last week I took the car in at 1275 miles not even 1500 miles and guess what, it sucked up 4quarts out of 5. Wow, im surprised my engine didnt even blow on me then. Till now, Infinity doesnt even know what they hell would cause such a thing. But anyhow, they made me fell all better as its getting a new motor installed as I type this.
So what do you guys think about this? odd right...I mean **** man, how many times have you guys heard of something like this. I never raped my car, abused ...i am not a agressive driver. Hmm well, maybe u guys can relate to this or tell me somethings I should know when I get my car back. Anything you guys would ask the service rep when getting my car back? Any input from you guys would be most appreciated
Thanks alot for taking the time to read this post. Have a great weekend.

Trust me, dont take it personal, but everytime someone spells Infiniti with a Y, they get attacked like a pack of wolfs.
It's almost as irritating as hearing "I got a speeding ticket".
But its all good
.
Is someone stabbing you guys in the back? Does reading the subject line "INFINITY *** make you lose money? Or maybe, by reading so it made you lose a relative. NO it does not.
I dont have time to read these replys. I have had TWO close family members pass this last week who were very close to me. I have felt like **** this week and have barely been able to keep it together to manage my office. Anyhow, thanx for the helpful replys and lessons on spelling. Maybe next time my brother and wife pass away, I will think about the correct spelling of "INFINITI".

Well its not like you accidentally hit the "y" instead of the "i" they really are not that close to each other. Also, since its on the back of your car "INFINITI" and you own one we would think you could spell it.... its one of those cases were if you couldn’t spell your name im sure you would get made fun of.

I hate it when people do what you do! If you are going to correct him at least follow it with an answer to his question or something semi educated unlike your post.
ANYWAY -- I found similar thread read around see if you find something helpful, http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/186282
But if you are getting a new engine, then don't worry about just think back to see if you did anything wrong and well change it with the new engine, try something different, maybe driving habits, type of oil, etc.
