Like to play w. SEAT MEMORY while driving?
Sure it's for safety reasons, but if you're like me and would like to play with seat memory when the car is traveling at >4mph then this is for you.
There is a couple of wires that needs to be cut/rerouted underneath the seat. I'll supply more details upon request.
... just another stupid mod that 99.99% of the people could live without

Re: Like to play w. SEAT MEMORY while driving?
TechFarmer,
There are *two* limiting factors (speed, e-brake) for the 6mt model and *three* limiting factors (speed, e-brake, Shifter in 'P' position) for the AT model.
There are a few ways to go about this. However, It looks like you have the 6mt model as well, so here's what I did and suggest for the least amount of time and hassle. It is extremely easy (could be done in 10 seconds :O).
Again, this is for the ***6mt models only***.
You'll need a flash light and a wire cutter.
1. Raise the driver seat as high as you can (front & rear) and as far forward as you can.
2. From the rear end of the seat, look underneath and locate the 'Seat Control Unit' (White Box, approx 6" wide and 1.5" tall) located towards the front-left of the seat. (there will be two harnesses attached to it).
3. Locate the *left* 24-pin harness.
4. Count from the bottom row, 5th wire from the left. Cut (yellow/black) wire.
note: there is no need to disconnect the harness from the box.
24-pin Harness Diagram (x = cut):
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] ------ [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
Sorry ... no digicam here
5. I'd suggest cutting the wire further away up-stream from the harness. In case you ever need to repatch the line for any reaasons, it would be a lot easier then. You may also wrap some electrical tape around the two ends of the cut wires for an added margin of safety.
Here's how it works:
When you're driving, engage the e-brake lever ever so slightly (a couple of clicks), enough to trigger the 'BRAKE' indicator on the dash. Then simply get to work with the Seat Memory buttons till you see fit. Be sure to disengage your e-Brakes when you're done.
It takes a lot more than a few clicks to actually engage the rear drum brakes. If you're not comfortable with this method, then you can choose to bypass the 'e-brake' status wire as well (a must for AT model people due to safety reasons).
Those with AT models:
In addition to the direction from above, you'll need to by pass the e-brake line as well as the shifter-position line. Again, I'll elaborate if any AT guys are interested.
DO NOT attempt to step on the e-brake *pedal* when your driving ... it is far too dangerous in my opinnion.

Re: Like to play w. SEAT MEMORY while driving?
Thank you for the info -- it's already helped me out. I hate to admit it, but I haven't yet read the owners manual and I wasn't exactly sure all of the steps necessary to even make the memory seat work in the first place. Some times it worked and sometimes it did not. Now I understand that it requires both e-brake and VSS and now I even know how to override those.
Any idea how to enable the "exit assist feature" that the automatic transmission vehicles have? I would like to have the seat move all the way back when I turn the engine off.

Re: Like to play w. SEAT MEMORY while driving?
I believe it is automatic transmission / premium package vehicles that have the "exit assist featue" with the memory seats. I know sedans have this feature, not sure about coups. This feature moves the seat backwards when the ignition is turned off to make it easier to get in and out of the car. I'm not sure why, but this feature is disabled on 6MT sedans.

Yeah, the Entry/Exit assist feature is only for the premium AT *sedans* only. It is disabled for the 6mt sedans for safety reasons as it may interfere with the clutch operation. I think it's best to leave it alone.

There's a switch, just behind the programming buttons. Set it to "Off", and it won't move back automatically.

I read my bible (owner's manual) and saw the cancel button.
Guess I need to read more.
Thanks

Clint... how about figuring out how to get the seats to adjust according to which remote opened the car?!
I get my chest caved in and my knees slammed against the steering wheel everytime the wife borrows the car and doesn't tell me.

LMAO Ted!
Unfortunately I don't think that's possible (not via the remote), as our FOB do not have unique IDs.
