:( blew my motor :(
:( blew my motor :(
WELL..... i think my motor blew. ok heres the story, i was racing with some friends and this is like the 3rd or 4th race i have ever done after the turbo (8 months) so... we did three runs and on the third run this huge cloud of WHITE smoke came from the back and as i was pulling over i heard some clunking and then the car shut off and wont start again.
here are the mysteries, i was low on oil because it was leaking oil a couple days before and i was going to go actually right after the race, so can it just be because there was low oil? i dont have a boost controller so its still the "stock TN 7 lbs" boost, nothing has been added to my car after the install, and i never race.
can anyone help me out before i spend all this money to have the motor pulled and its for nothing. thanks.... let me here the GOOD news

Low on oil + high speed run + white smoke + clunking = most likely you either spun a bearing (or two) and seized the engine or spun a rod bearing and broke the end cap off and seized the motor.

Sounds like it's gone to me.
As for the "stock TN 7lbs" do you have a gauge or anything? The TN has a rep for overboosting.
yeah, my guage reads 7psi when its floored

haha well it was but then it wasnt, i won all three races and i guess if my motor blows then at least it was during a race and even though it blew i still won. im trying to be positive with this whole thing but i have a car show on sat and i have no idea how to get it there. but yeah, i hope its not blown.
anyone with any other ideas??

by won't start to you mean it won't even crank? do you have a check engine light? i say run an OBDII scan on it and see what it says...
white smoke is usually coolant, but coolant wouldn't be "clanking". the smoke is probably oil... now you either blew your motor completely and you basically need to start from scratch... OR you got lucky and only blew your turbo (bearings slipped/shifted/broke) and the turbo's oil feed is now feeding your intake (and after burning in the motor it would create a whitish smoke out your exhaust). the clanking could have been intense shaft play in your turbo as the impeller grinded to a stop and your engine could have shut off due to the loss in oil pressure. back to the blown engine worst case scenario... im a Lexus IS guy so i deal with the 2jz engine but from lurking around it seems like 7psi isn't pushing the your engine too hard... your oil level most likely had something to do with things but def check out your whip a lil more before pulling the block. if the engine turns out to be F'ed and you pull the block then you might as well build it up so you can crank the boost up and get some REAL power to the wheels when your up and running again :-)
good luck nonetheless!

Lots of blown motor happened because of Oil running low. Most driver didn't even know that they were running low and you were lucky enough to catch it but ignored it. I know you're trying to be positive but why ignore it and still race.
The motor is toast. The good news is used VQ35s are cheap and abundant.
Next time I suggest having as many safeguards in place as you can including:
1) A quality boost controller
2) A quality oil pressure gauge
3) An oil temp gauge
4) Larger oil pan
Adding boost to a car that wasn't designed for boost requires a lot of money if you want it to run reliably. It's just not a fire and forget mod. It takes thousands of dollars in additional safeguard equipment to do it right. Even then, it's not guaranteed that the motor won't pop. The truth is these VQ35s aren't real happy under boost.
