Mod question

i am getting a 04 G35 in 3 weeks and starting to buy mods this week. So far I am picking up JWT pop charger,Z tube, Hks Hi power exhaust. Now comes my question on the intake. I was looking into the motordyne 1/2 Iso Thermal spacer kit and the MREV-2. I was also looking into the crawford intake and have seen a few fourms where people say not to get the spacer,mrev-2 and crawford intake all together if so should i just go with the mrev-2 and spacer or what. Also how do i tell the difference between a non-rev engine and a rev engine also it is a autmatic so does that change theings I searched and was still puzzled if someone cloud clear this up for me that would be great thanks.

You don't have the revup in your '04.

G35's with the revup motor see the greatest gains from the mrev2. You may just want to go with the Crawford plenum or the Motordyne 1/2" Iso Thermal spacer. You can always add the mrev2 later, but its less work if you install it at the same time you install the spacer or plenum.

From what I understand you need the motordyne spacer but not the mrev option, and if you are in a climate that gets really cold in the winter you should get a copper spacer.

Are you doing suspension mods? I assume you will since you already have a hefty amount invested in performance goodies

You don't want you use a plenum (like the Crawford) and a spacer at the same time. There is no need since basically they do the exact same thing.
You can use the spacer and the mrev2 together, or the plenum and the mrev2, although I don't think the minimal gains will justify the cost of the mrev2 on an '04 AT IMO.

WHat does the Mrev not do much because I got a Auto. OR cause I dont have the rev up motor. Also where do I look for the copper spacer becasue I was looking at the motordyne and it dosnt look plastic. Also why do some people only use a 5/16 and not go big with 1/2. Last yea as i mentioned I need the copper gasket becasue live up in Chicago area and it will be a yearly driven car. THanks for all the help so far hopefully I can get some more.

-mrev does MORE on a Rev-Up
-copper is the throttlebody heater that you use instead of CCV (coolant control valve)
-most use 5/16 for more power in mid-range
-1/2 better for top end
-****please search b/c this has all been discussed 1000000000 times***

go to www.motordyneengineering.com and read thoroughly before respomding here.

OP... FWIW, I have 04 AT as well... I run 1/2" spacer with Iso Thermal kit (I have the manual valve but you should get copper since you're in colder climate). I have been very satisfied with this set-up I think you would be pleased.

Other options would be Crawford or Kinetix plenum (however I feel you will get similar or better results with the spacer and it costs less). Or MREV2. You don’t want the plenum and spacer and it's probably not worth doing MREV2 and spacer (although you could = minimal gains over spacer alone). No matter what you do with the plenum you can use the Iso Thermal kit.

Motodyne products are result proven by MANY G and Z owners. There are hundreds of posts and I can’t ever remember seeing one negative thing. Tony has great customer service and is very well versed with these motors – you can’t go wrong with Motodyne products.

Hope this helps. Research the threads for boatloads of info…

MREV2 = a modified 03-04 lower plenum (you have the un-modified version already). The gains for you will not be as posted on Tony's site. That's the gain for the Rev-up guys. Also the Crawford plenum = 1/2" spacer. If the cost of the new (MREV2) doesn't bother you then get it but you'll only get a few more ponies. Otherwise just get a spacer OR the Crawford/Kinetix upper plenum's. The ISO thermal kit is also an option, but I have the MREV2 and 5/16 spacer and never had a problem not having the ISO kit up here in the North East. So it up to you. Hope it helps.
