Dear Sir,
In response to your inquiries, Mobil 1 synthetic oil is recommended for Infiniti vehicles, however; it does not change the recommended maintenance interval of 3 months or 6,000kms.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-361-4792.
Sincerely,
Infiniti Canada

Hmmmm..
a) If one sticks with Infiniti recommendations (to support any future warranty issues) then the beneift of extending the time between oil changes is lost.
b) Given they recommend Mobil 1 - this now adds to the existing confusion about Mobile1 is no longer a true synthetic ( per earlier posts in this thread and here :
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=mobil1
c) Has anyone asked Infiniti US on what their position is re use Synthetic Oil? I wonder if it is the same or different than Infiniti Canada.

a) Is the above the real thing or still considered 'fake'
b) Where would I find info on the other 3 types of Mobil 1 mentioned above??

2) If one of the advantages of synthetic oil is to extend maintenance intervals, then this means owners would NOT following the recommended intervals., Is that not a warranty concern?
Simply put, synthetic doesn't change your intervals in "real world" conditions. However, synthetic gives you far superior lubricity than 'dino' oil. You shouldn't look at synthetic for longer intervals in and of itself, rather that it offers FAR better lubrication and keeps your engine wear down considerably compared to 'dino' oil. Not that you cannot run it a bit longer, but please do not fall into the trap that you pay three times the price per quart so you can run it three times longer. Doesn't work that way.
Put it into terms as you can buy a KIA or the G, both will get you to and from work, but which one is 'slicker'. Both need service, oil changes, tires, brakes, etc. one will cost more, one less. Each has a place within their given market, not discounting one vs. the other, just that there is a choice. Given the choice many prefer synthetic as it offers the best option for modern high performance engine.

If you have questions about oil, this is the best place to look:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
Go to the forums.
The guys that post there are really into oil. One of the moderators there had or has a G35 and wasn't pleased with Mobil 1 in the G. The German Castrol (green or gold) is a very good synthetic as is Amsoil. GC is hard to find. Make sure it says Made in Germany on the bottle.
Amsoil has good info on their website. I went with the Series 2000 synthetic but their other full synthetic is maybe a little better for mostly around town driving.
Rotella synthetic is another great oil. All are generally thought of to be better than Mobile 1. Don't use a racing oil.

I got my G coupe a few months ago, new. I called my dealer and they told me it had Castrol Syntec in it. Seems we're getting different answers. This is also what they use for oil changes.
I've always liked Mobil 1 but I'll give the Castrol a chance. The only car I had an oil problem with was one where the oil wasn't changed. The brand, for how I drive, should be less of an issue.
