if your clutch pedal is not coming all the way up. Dont
keep your foot pressed on play. This will at least save some
life on your clutch.

As for launching. I go around 3000-3500 max with no
issues at all.

+1 for 3000-3500 launching. 4000RPMs = hop unless your reeeeaaallllllyyyy gentle on clutch release, which wouldn't be good for "best acceleration." I know this may sound crazy, but my clutch got stuck once the entire time I've owned my G. It got caught up in the carpet (not the mat, the actual carpet) somehow, the back of the pedal caught a high spot. The only way I figured this out was sitting in the car, with it off, and just clutched in hard a few times until it got stuck again. It got stuck, I got out of the car, got up close with the pedal and noticed it had implanted itself in the carpet. I actually got my beard and mustache trimmer and just shaved the carpet. (Maybe Rgolden would be interested in my weight saving mod ). Before you panic, rule out the stupid stuff, as 90% of the time, thats what winds up being the problem. As for 70,000-80,000 RPMs, once is a typo, twice is um, yeah. My car has no rev limiter. JWT S1 cams. I still dont go over 7200 rpms, even cammed, it just doesn't seem to be faster, and you loose the sweet spot in the next gear. Before cams, I would never even go to 7k. (I have an 03, non "rev up").

I don't have a 6mt, but have read over a dozen posts about this happening under the conditions you describe (very-high RPM's, too fast of a clutch dump).

The general consensus was that there is nothing wrong with the tranny, and you suuold thank if for alerting you that you're driving it improperly.

Hey guys,

Just a quick question, where can i find hints to drive a manual. I thought driving mean operating my car and make it more, i have no idea there is so much in depth skills behind a 6mt. Do you guys know where i can get instrustion to driving a manual beside the owner's manual book?

Eg, like tips and hints.

Okay really quick, nice and simple. You need to learn how to engage your gears with your clutch...so when you press the left pedal all the way down(clutch)you are then going to let off the clutch so you can feel about where the car starts to die....do not use the gas at all at this point. Keep doing that till you can feel where the clutch will engage before it's about to die,now gently practice using the accelerator at the same time. Slowly apply the accelerator,be gentle you dont' need to redline the car...and then gently let off the left pedal as you do that,or google it... Next for the car problem. Since you know you have a problem, and you seem to be able to somewhat drive a manual, just not very well yet....DO NOT.. try to LAUNCH your car. Drive it to the dealer nice and easy, just pretend you are a grandma. This is incase you did do serious dmg to your clutch. Have them look at it,and ask one of the sales or lot people to maybe give you a crash course in driving a manual while you are there.

Thank for the tips. Maybe you guys are right. The fact is i drive a manual like 2 year ago in a very small car. Back then, i have no intentino what-so-ever to perserve it. Now that i brought my own car, i want to nurture her and take very good care of her.
i have no idea its gotta be that much of work, but i am willing to try.

Crashtest77 - I know how to drive a manual. So you are saying not to step on the paddle "Gas" before the clutch engage? I never try it. I want to keep my engine from dying, thus i normally step on the gas while letting go my clutch. Does your tips really work? anyone want to comment on that??

Seriously, who the hell is this guy? You obviously DO NOT know how to handle the stick. Why in the hell would you go out and buy a G and try launching it at 7000 rpms? Just go out and practice man. That's the best advice anyone can give you. And please, if you live in the LA area, practice late at night. I don't want to take the chance of having to avoid a head on collision with you.

Sometime i am just wondering how good are you driving your stick. I may not be the best, but i am asking because i want to learn.

Too bad i am not in LA or else i gotta come find you and practice in front of house every evening, and pissed you off so bad you want to drop your ball!

But still thanks for the comment, it's so motivating. I wish you well!

Haha...touche my Chinese chum. You're quite the hilarious one. Your little threats with your broken English put a smile on my face. You buy it cause you can?! No, you bought the car because you're probably some young punk wanting to get into the racing scene in the ATL. And FYI, I'm also not the greatest manny driver, but I sure know what the hell I'm doing when I get behind the wheel. Trying to launch at 7k rpms isn't ignorance...it's stupidity. And it's nice to know you don't live in the LA area. With your driving skills, you'd wreck your car within days.

Well for some reason i knew you will comment on my english. What else can you criticized? Sorry i was not born american and english isn't my mother tongue, but i am pretty sure i can understand more languages than you. My broken english is enough to send the point across and **** you off.

Well, FYI again, i am not into racing and I am not a punk too. Young? Yeah i know, poor you!

I just do not get it, why do you have to leave comment since you know it is senseless and useless plus doesn't help in solving the problem. Honestly, what you said really doesn't help me at all. So, save some breath and let people who want to help leave comment.

And last but not least, "Diu Lei Lah" its cantonese, go figure that out, you genius!

Sooiseng ~ why do people have so much time!?

sooiseng, some people just love to criticize and insult others over the net. Pretty cowardly. Anyways the best way to learn is just practice, sure you will probably burn a clutch by the time you learn but that is normal. I would not launch over 4K RPM and concentrate on your foot work, get to know the clutch. Once you have mastered the clutch and the shift points, you will be fine. Oh and I commend you on your english, I know it's not easy. English isn't my first language either.

Thanks man! I am practicing everyday. I tried not to step on my gas paddle and release my clutch. My engine die couple of time at 1st shift. but when i reverse or changing gear, it goes very well.

BTW i do know how to drive a manual! Now, i am learning to appreciate driving manual transmission. Do you step on ur gas paddle when you release your clutch at 1st gear?
