But I feel like it could be no problem at all, and the car was just downshifting. If you are going to downshift, you have to floor it.. or else you'll actually be getting slowed down by being at higher rpms in the lower gears. Look what happens when you stop giving your car gas in manumatic mode for gears 1 and 2 when you get to the higher rpms. But it could have something to do with the ecu, as your driving style could completely differ from the previous owner.

I'll try it out and report my findings

It does make sense that the car would downshift if giving it too much gas would drop it to 4th and rev the engine... it's just that there's such a huge pause that it would almost cause an issue if I needed to make a quick move in traffic. More RPM's don't do any good if there's a 1.5s pause before I get any acceleration!

Dont know about that.. but we arent sure if you have a seperate problem here. The car is extremely manuverable, I used to be able to switch lanes like a bandit but I just got a speeding ticket, so no more of that for a while.

if you find yourself needing to weave in and out of traffic just pop it in manual real quick... thats what I do and it works perfect! not to mention it's also a safety issue, you dont wanna pop out your lane needing to accelerate fast to find your car will pause.... if I need to do some passing on the street I just downshift it to 3d finish my pass, upshift to 4th and youre good to go..

next time it happens look down at ur guage cluster and if ur slip light is flashing its ur traction control thats slowing down ur car and thats normal.

I have the same question, but I drive a 6 speed. What has happening is that if I accelerate hard in 1st gear it will take literally a second or two for it to actually go, then when I shift up to second it will take a second or two to go too. It just revs extremely high before it car actually gets going. Is this an ecu issue? I am not an experienced manual driver, but this really does not make sense to me. If you have any input, please let me know, thanks!

I haven't had time to reset my ECU since it takes 12 straight hours (good freakin luck with that since I just got it ) but I have noticed the problem seems to be slightly going away.

How fast can the ECU learn that it needs to stop being a grandma? I've only had it 4 days but I'm already noticing a difference.

Maybe you were slipping and then finally your tires got some traction and you felt car gaining speed.

For anyone just reading the end of this post... it's not from 0mph, the major issue I saw was hitting the gas going from 40 to 70 to get on the highway or if I'm already going 60 and want to gun it around someone real quick. The RPM's jump to 4k and no accel would happen for about a full second and then she'd go.
