MD 5/16 Spacer question.
MD 5/16 Spacer question.
i just ordered the 5/16 iso thermal spacer and i think i ordered the wrong one. i read that if it snows or gets cold where you live (i live in St. Louis) you shouldn't get it but the copper iso thermal because your throttle body could freeze. so did i order the wrong one? and would it be alright if i just went ahead and got the basic 5/16 spacer instead of copper iso thermal spacer?

Now, with regard to the ISO Thermal and Copper ISO Thermal kits, they both share the plenum spacer and the Aramid gasket. Beyond that, the difference between the two is in how the hot coolant temps are regulated at the Throttle Body assembly, which ultimately lowers the temperature inside the plenum assembly.
The ISO Thermal utilizes a CCV (Coolant Control Valve), which can be very easily turned on or off to either allow or stop the flow of engine coolant through the Throttle Body assembly.
The Copper ISO Thermal utilizes a copper plate, which is mounted between the Throttle Body and the neck of the plenum.
These two different set-ups afford heat to the TB assembly when the outside air temperature is very cold. This is to ensure that during cold weather conditions, the butterfly in the TB does not freeze up and stick.
The CCV has be to manually adjusted to either an open or close position, as required. However, the Copper set-up, is an install it and leave set-up. With the Copper, you never have to make an adjustment.
