Fresh Dyno on my SEDAN! And a 13.86 ¼ Mile pass!!

Well everyone, here I am again. I went to New Orleans the other day with my G and ran it on the Dyno. I was kind of shocked at what I found out. I have added the Stillen performance muffler and a Blitz intake to my car. My baseline in the ¼ mile was 14.64 stock. Now I'm at 13.86. I never got a base line for the HP stock, but with the upgrades I have 235.15 HP at the wheels and 139.42 Ft-Lbs of torque. The dyno guy told me that corrected HP at the crank would be somewhere in the vacinity of 285-290. Here's the proof.

mustang dynos like to cheat you on hp and torque- my friend has an '01 GT with exhaust, gear, pullies, cai, and a few other things, and he dyno'd up at 150rwhp on it. lol

a cobra dyno'd up around 215rwhp (Where a gt would be on a standard dyno), so just increase your numbers by a lot

No way does a muffler and an intake add 25-30 horsepower. I'm not saying you didn't dyno at that. Although, I doubt the integrity of the dyno.

I think its correct. Skyline's Engine alway got a lot of potentials. Anything you upgrade will give you significant amount of power. Just check out some info on the pre G35 skylines.

Stewa101, then how do you explain a 13 second run?

Was that on the track?

No... it was on the Dyno... I'm guessing it'll be close on the track, depending on weather conditions. The last car I had I ran on the dyno and then on the track. Everytime I did it, I was always within .06 sec of each other.

Take it to the track to check. That's of course always more accurate. You have to consider wheelspin and other variables.

if it ends up proving true at the track, that's a pretty good 1/4 mile improvement..

Why do you state that exhaust and intake won't make an extra 20-30hp? A well designed exhast system can increase HP by 10%. Intakes generally account for 2-6%. All of this depends on the motor though and 10% of 260 HP is 26 HP. Its possible but maybe not with all engine combos out there. *Side note headers on a SBC will on average add 40 horses and thats with no other mods.

Re: Fresh Dyno on my SEDAN! And a 13.86 ¼ Mile pass!!

You are correct about headers on SBC. In addition to adding 40 hp, they also add 60-70 lb-ft of torque, on average. This is on engines producing roughly 250 hp/ 350 TQ at the crank.

I would like to see some headers, ceramic coated of course, for the VQ 35. Or, are the stock exhaust manifolds good enough that headers won't make much difference.

DJrezin's dynos show a nice improvement from a catback and CAI, something like 25 rwhp. I would image a set of headers would add a like amount.
